Here are my predictions for week 3 of the Rugby World Cup warm-up matches.

Wales v South Africa
Optimism seems to be growing in Wales after their performances in the last fortnight, but I think England’s deficiencies have made them look better than they are, and this could be a bump back down to earth. It’s a strong Springbok side and on paper they should win comfortably. South Africa by 9Georgia v USA
Georgia thrashed Romania last weekend, whilst the USA were well-beaten by Portugal, and this ought to be a home win. Georgia by 13Ireland v England
England’s World Cup chariot is already spluttering and struggling to get going, further derailed by the furore over Owen Farrell’s high tackle. There has been absolutely nothing to suggest that England can win in Dublin against the Number 1 side in the world. There is little to lose, and we might just see some more attacking intent from the visitors, but the home side look to have too much quality. Ireland by 9Italy v Romania
Romania’s World Cup preparation hasn’t gone too well, with a defeat to the USA who haven’t even qualified, followed by a 50-point drubbing from Georgia. Italy should be too strong for them here, and I’m expecting a comfortable home win. Italy by 18France v Fiji
France have had a couple of close games against Scotland, but this should be a confidence-boosting win against Fiji, with an opportunity to test the depth of their squad. France by 23How do your predictions compare? Play our World Cup Warm-Ups Predictor here:

If the Boks don't win easily against Wales, by at least 15points then I will be extremely disappointed!!

With Biggar and Williams out, make that SA by 15 as Gatland playing the same game as Raassie Now 18 Aug 06:40

All that really matters is injury-free, card-free, high-intensity, low-error cohesion. The result can reduce confidence, or cause over-confidence, but it’s hard to quantify and largely irrelevant.
