World Cup 2023: Day 6 Preview
We've had a couple of single-match days to begin Round 2 but we finally have more of a rugby feast coming up today as there are three matches taking place and three nations beginning their RWC 2023 campaigns.
Last night, the All Blacks managed a very comfortable win over Namibia, just as almost all of our community predicted. Today, each of the three matches are also fairly one-sided on paper, but upsets are always possible when a nation is playing their first game of a tournament and the margins are of course all-important on Superbru regardless.
β Result predicted by more than 99% of Superbru players
π― Exact margin predicted by 1.5% of Superbru players
The All Blacks made very sure of their victory and bonus point in this one which gets them back to within 3 points of France on the Pool A standings. Well done to those of you that managed a Margin Point!
β° Kick-off at 15:00 local time
π Matmut Atlantique, Bordeaux
Samoa begin their RWC 2023 with what is their easiest Pool D fixture on paper, though Chile were competitive for much of their match against Japan so it will be interesting to see if they can take any momentum into this one and threaten an upset. The Samoa lineup looks like a strong one with an ex-Wallaby and an ex-All Black among their starting XV.
π΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ Wales vs. Portugal π΅πΉ
β° Kick-off at 17:45 local time
π Allianz Riviera, Nice
After (just about) defeating Fiji, Wales are in a great position in Pool C and this *should* be a more straightforward afternoon for them against Portugal. As Warren Gatland has said, Wales can expect a similar style of opponent to Fiji in this game as Portugal look to play with a fairly expansive approach that is easy on the eye, but it would be a considerable upset if they keep the scoreline competitive given Wales' superior experience and quality at this level.
βοΈ Ireland vs. Tonga πΉπ΄
β° Kick-off at 21:00 local time
π Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes
Finally, we have an interesting clash between Ireland and Tonga in Nantes. The world number 1s are naturally heavy favourites but Ireland can expect a very physical challenge in this game and it's clear that they aren't taking what is a fairly strong Tonga lineup lightly, making just 4 changes themselves from the team that battered Romania last weekend.
