World Cup 2023: Day 2 Preview

After an opening night that saw hosts France manage a memorable victory over New Zealand at the Stade de France, we're now set for our first 'full' day of this Rugby World Cup with four matches taking place.

Those of you that picked Les Bleus are no doubt already enjoying some bragging rights towards the top of your Superbru leaderboards, but it's very early days and today will be interesting as tonight's final match is another that has split our community very evenly.

New Zealand started this match on top, with the first of Mark Telea's two tries coming inside the first couple of minutes, but penalties kicked by Thomas Ramos ensured France were always in the game and the hosts came alive in the second half. Tries from Damien Penaud and Melvyn Jaminet resulted in what ended up being a fairly comfortable winning margin.

Italy are very strong favourites on Superbru in this one, as the Azzurri have named a strong looking side and come into the game having picked up healthy wins over Romania and Japan last month.

On paper, this is one of the most one-sided matches of the pool stage which means it's all about the margin for Superbru players! Plenty of fantasy players will be keeping an eye on their captain picks from the world's number 1 ranked side too...

🏟 Stade de France, Saint-Denis

Can Eddie Jones pick up his first win as Wallabies boss now that the World Cup is here? Preparation hasn't been great and Georgia will provide a real test so this one should be interesting, but only a very small percentage of the Superbru community has picked against the Wallabies. This is the first match in what should be a fascinating Pool C with Fiji, Wales and Portugal the other teams in the group.

It's not really fair to pick a 'standout' match in a World Cup where every match is of course very significant, but this is the one that has the most riding on it in terms of Superbru leaderboards as our community is very evenly split.
