USA squad named for 2026 World Cup
This year's World Cup is an absolutely huge one for the USA as they will of course be co-hosting with Canada and Mexico, so there's big pressure on Mauricio Pochettino and the players he has picked to deliver.
Here's the 26-man list in full:

An injury to Atletico Madrid's Johnny Cardoso that has ruled him out of the World Cup was a considerable blow for the US, so Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie will be looked to for power and control in the middle of the park. Seattle Sounders' Cristian Roldan has also proven himself as a capable option in the centre of the field in recent seasons having transitioned from a more attacking wide role.
Christian Pulisic (AC Milan) remains the star in attack, though he will likely be used primarily for chance creation with Monaco's Folarin Balogun the most likely number 9 having scored 18 goals across Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season.
Matt Turner is set to start in goal after impressing for the New England Revs on loan from parent club Lyon, while left back Antonee Robinson finding some fitness and form at the very end of the Premier League season for Fulham is very encouraging news for Pochettino.
After an opening game against Paraguay in LA, the USMNT face Australia in Seattle before returning to LA to face Türkiye.

As expected, the bulk of the American roster is made up of players who are playing their club football in Europe, but Pochettino has also included a fair number of MLS players. Here's the 26-man list in full:

How will they get on?
The US are going to need to go far in this competition if they're to truly capture attention in a nation where soccer is still yet to become as popular as many other sports, so they'll be fairly pleased with the favourable group that they have been drawn in.After an opening game against Paraguay in LA, the USMNT face Australia in Seattle before returning to LA to face Türkiye.
