URC: Quarter-Final Predictions

It’s quarter-final time in the URC, featuring 3 South African teams, 2 Scottish, 2 Irish and 1 Welsh.

Who will lift the trophy in a couple of weeks’ time? Here are my URC Quarter-final predictions.

Glasgow Warriors vs. Stormers

The hosts have lost three in a row, which has seen them slip to 4th and earn a much tougher draw than they might have had in 2nd place. The Stormers have hit some form in Cape Town, but their away record still concerns me, and they have lost 4 of their 5 matches against Glasgow. But I’m still leaning towards an upset here, and I think this is the best chance of an Away win this weekend. Prediction: Stormers by 2

Bulls vs. Edinburgh

This one looks much more straightforward, and I can’t see how the Scottish side can win at Loftus. They’ve only won 2 matches away from home all season, and now face one of the toughest trips in the competition, so it could be a long afternoon at altitude. Prediction: Bulls by 18

Leinster vs. Scarlets

This is the other one-sided quarter-final and an easy pick - although the Scarlets did beat Leinster at home a few weeks ago. Not this time though, and the hosts can’t take any risks with team selection as they bid to finally land a trophy. Prediction: Leinster by 23

Sharks vs. Munster

This should be closer than the Bulls and Leinster games, and yes Munster can be dangerous away from home, but the Sharks will be up for this one with a strong side in front of their own fans in Durban. Munster’s away form has been poor, and on form and history, there’s no reason to pick anything but a home win. Prediction: Sharks by 7

Agree - Stormers will struggle 30 May 13:33

Stormers and Sharks will both go down on current form, and the Bulls must play 80 mins for a change

Sharks to win. Bulls to lose 30 May 04:35

I am with you Hutch on three outcomes. Bulls and Leinster by a country mile. Glasgow and Stormers will be tight; but home advantage be the difference. Which Sharks team turns up will be key to an easy or scraping a home result. Sharks should win though but at the best of times they are own enemies

Sharks to win. Bulls to lose as well as Stormers to lose 30 May 04:39

How sure are you that bulls lose? 30 May 11:14

I\'m hoping they will. If Munster and Glasgow have beaten the Bulls at \'altitude\', there\'s no reason why Edinburgh can\'t break the Bulls hearts as well. 30 May 13:52

If you thought Glasgow did it the hard way last year. Just watch as Edinburgh win away in Pretoria, away in Durban and away in Dublin to lift the trophy!! And yes those are pigs you see flying across that blue moon!

I agree with you. Edinburgh to win on Pretoria. Not sure about the final but definitely in the QF against the Bulls 30 May 04:35

The centre pair of the Stormers concern me, and of the quality of refs on the North side, doubt I that the Stormers will won this won, but keep praying.

Eish Hutch, don't know where you got the Stormers to win as they were terrible out of sync and obviously outclassed. Bulls should win IF they play for 80, Leinster will win & Munster will be too much for Sharks, a very overrated team. 30 May 23:18

Sharks to win even if it\'s by 1 point. They just mustn\'t get any serious injuries as the Sharks need their best players for the Semi final and ultimately the final against Leinster (away) or Scarlets (home) 31 May 04:23

I'm a regular at the Hive, where we were lucky to beat the Bulls a month ago. Can't see us winning in Pretoria.
However I had opted for the Stormers to win in Glasdump so what do I know ???
