Superbru Jackpot: So close to a Round 1 Premier League winner!

It's fair to say lots of Superbru players had a very good opening round in our Premier League Predictor!

As most of you will know having seen the banners in our Predictor game and/or this article last week, if you score 28 points in a 10-match round of our Premier League Predictor, you can win £10,000 in association with our partner Hollywoodbets*.

Yesterday, 3 Superbru players were still in with a chance of scooping the prize if they managed an Exact score in the Leicester vs. Tottenham match.

Unfortunately, the upset in that final game meant the prize wasn't won, though a different player had 1-1 Exact to top the global leaderboard after Round 1 with a very impressive 27.5 points!

Last night's contenders

We published this graphic on Superbru Football yesterday to show the three players still in with a chance of winning the jackpot if they managed an Exact for Leicester vs. Tottenham.

'I_Welcome_The_Chase', 'Dirty Harry' and 'Craggle Rock' were all still in contention unlike those that were above them on the leaderboard because they had 9/9 correct picks meaning an Exact for Leicester vs. Spurs would also have seen them receive a third and final Slam Point to reach the magic number of 28 points.

Those three players had predicted 0-2, 1-2 and 0-1 respectively, meaning any of those scorelines yesterday evening would have seen the jackpot won.

Had Jamie Vardy's header not gone in, or if Richarlison scored that late header, or had Tottenham scored any of the many chances they created at the King Power, things could have been very different but what a fantastic effort from those three brus and so many others in this opening round!

Top performer

Last night's 1-1 draw meant that instead, 'Wade' from South Africa was the top performer in Round 1 with a remarkable 27.5 points!

Here's a look at Wade's excellent picks that saw him just 0.5 points away from the jackpot.

Only Brighton's victory at Goodison Park surprised Wade and a Brighton pick would have secured enough points - though Alejandro Garnacho is probably more to blame for the jackpot being missed as if he converted his fantastic chance late on against Fulham then that would have been 9 Exacts!

Overall in Round 1, four players ended up within just a couple of points of the magic 28. The Superbru Jackpot remains up for grabs, though it might not be for much longer at this rate!

Remember, just by making your score predictions on Superbru for each round as usual, you are in with a free chance of winning the big prize.

Good luck with your Round 2 predictions and make sure you tell your friends and family to have a go too as it's not late to join our Premier League Predictor game!

Sjoe, I would have cried if I were you.
Superbru, when are you updating the RSA VS Windies cricket?

I also see the Premiership fantasy is open.
again just 4 changes per round, why can't you change it to 6 ?

Less is better. With 6 free transfers there's no reward for good planning. Personally, I would like to see a sliding scale in operation. First transfer free; 2nd costs 1 point; 3rd costs 2 points; 4th 3 points; 5th 4 points; 6th 5 points; all the way to the 23rd transfer costing 22 points. 20 Aug 16:23

what I suggest for them was if you don't use all your transfers that it must be carry over to the next round. that will also help with good planning. 20 Aug 17:07

That is also a good idea, Corne. I often have more transfers than I need. instead of then making minor tweaks, I'd rather save the transfer for rounds where I'm struggling to put out 15 players. 21 Aug 04:07

exactly my though also. there are round with unforseen injuries. then the transfers you didn't use will help you alot. 21 Aug 05:33

How about something different, let your bench score half points. Why else are you having the bench if they mean nothing and I still have to pay for them 21 Aug 11:08

That was also one of my suggestions to them.
cause sometimes a player gets injured in the 2nd minute, but your bench player won't come on, becuase that player did start, so it is not a case of a bad choice or pick, just plain bad luck that can cost you a lot of points, 21 Aug 11:53

and to also add to the last comment, with the budget, i must still pick your bench from that 100. but the only time they do help you is when a starting player withdrawn before a start of a game.
So either half points for bench players or half points when selecting bench player will help alot. 21 Aug 11:56

The Champions League official XI (plus 4 Reserves) Fantasy is totally ace! The best feature is being able to make subs for the next Game Day within the same Game Week. So you make sure your Weds night players are benched, then replace the 4 worst Tuesday players, only if need be though. For Rugby spread over 3 days we would need 'confirmed' player points from Friday in time for Saturday etc. But this might push SB's data processing servers and staff to breaking point! Even rolled over unused transfers might be asking too much? 22 Aug 02:16

The CL Fantasy substitute system is far better than the EPL's system. Tricky for SB to implement though. Regarding Vortex's suggested half-points for unused bench players, I totally agree. 22 Aug 03:37

AMAZING PICKING! 8 Exacts and a good variety of scorelines too, including a bold 'one-ended for closes' 1-0 for Newcastle v a very unlucky Southampton. Then undone by my local team Brighton, who even I thought would draw 1-1 rather than stuffing financially constrained Everton 0-3.

But forget all that, as I think the bigger reason Superbru have calculated their money is pretty safe (using previous seasons' data regression analysis) is the PITIFULLY low value of SLAM POINTS, compared to the "Here, have TWO extra per Exact sweeties" compared to getting the outcome right! You only got a paltry TWO Slam Points. Its all so out of whack and well, just a 'randomiser'. Instead of properly rewarding consistency IMHO 21 Aug 18:08

I think that the bru who scored the most points per regular round during the entire season, should be rewarded. Come on Hollywood bets, consider this.

Hi Alex, no, the jackpot is open to all players globally. In the US, the jackpot is worth $10,000. 23 Aug 08:07
