Superbru 6: Wallabies head to Scotland, France host Argentina
It’s the final weekend of International Rugby, and there is plenty at stake. Will England and Wales manage a win? Will France, South Africa and Australia remain unbeaten?
Here are my Superbru 6 predictions for this weekend.
The Pumas came close to an upset last weekend, ultimately falling slightly short against Ireland, and I think this will be a step up in quality in Paris. The hosts beat the All Blacks last weekend, and anything other than a home win would be a surprise. Prediction: France by 7
Fiji have had a good run, particularly that first-ever win in Cardiff, but Ireland will be too strong for them in Dublin, even with some experimental player selections. Prediction: Ireland by 18
Romania vs. Uruguay - Rugby Internationals
I’m going with Uruguay here, even though the streak will encourage people to pick Romania. The hosts have narrowly beaten Canada and Tonga so far, whilst Uruguay have had two narrow defeats but to superior opposition. I’ve included this one instead of Italy v New Zealand (All Blacks by 23), because this is a tough pick and could make or break a Superbru pool win! Prediction: Uruguay by 2
Wales vs. South Africa - Rugby Internationals
This is only going one way, and it could well be the end of Warren Gatland’s second stint in charge, although it needs more than a head coach change to reverse Wales’ fortunes. The World Champions are looking incredibly strong and turning in consistent performances, and I expect this will be fairly comfortable. Prediction: South Africa by 21
This has the makings of a great match, with both sides looking to play expansive rugby and it could well be the highest-scoring game of the round. I’m pleased to see Australia’s resurgence ahead of the Lions Tour next year, but I’m leaning towards a home win here on the basis of Scotland’s more consistent performances, with a scoreline something like 52-48! Prediction: Scotland by 4
England vs. Japan - Rugby Internationals
England’s inability to close out tight games has cost them 4 of the last 5 matches, but this one is unlikely to be quite so tight and pressured and I have a feeling they’ll cut loose. Their attack has been looking sharper in general, and their defence won’t be tested as sternly as it has been over the last 3 weeks. Prediction: England by 28

I like your ballsy pick of Uruguay. I also tossed this around but settled for Romania. May yet change.

I agree with most. I\'ve gone all out for SA to give the Welsh a proper hiding. I\'ve said SA by 64. Not sure if I\'m being over ambitious here. My luck we\'ll revert to winning by 1 or 2 like we did in the world cup leading up to the Final when we won by 1 point if I\'m not mistaken....
