Superbru 6: Springboks go to Twickenham, All Blacks in Paris
There are more exciting North v South clashes on offer this weekend, with France v New Zealand and England v South Africa the pick of the bunch.
Here are my Superbru 6 predictions for this weekend.
The Pumas continue to take major scalps under Felipe Contepomi and this would be a huge one. Ireland under-performed last weekend against the All Blacks and lacked the clinical execution that we have become used to. If they don’t sharpen up, they could well be turned over again, but I’m backing the home side to bounce back. Prediction: Ireland by 6
The Scots had their chances against the Springboks last weekend, although you’d think if they got close, the Boks might just have found another gear. This should be an easier afternoon at Murrayfield and I’m expecting a big home win. Prediction: Scotland by 38
England vs. South Africa - Rugby Internationals
Having lost to New Zealand and Australia in the last two weeks, I can’t see how England can turn things around against South Africa - now officially the best team in the world. Their defence was too leaky against the Wallabies, and their set piece in the second half was not good enough against the All Blacks, and the Boks are likely to exploit both of those weaknesses and they should win. Prediction: South Africa by 8
France vs. New Zealand - Rugby Internationals
The All Blacks are finding form again under Scott Robertson, and this would be another huge win having already seen off England and Ireland. I didn’t see France against Japan, but I’m leaning towards the All Blacks here, who should be better-prepared on the back of two tough tests. Prediction: New Zealand by 5
The Azzurri were well-beaten by the Pumas last weekend, and they’ll need to pick themselves up for what will likely be another physical encounter with Georgia. A defeat at home will reignite discussions about Six Nations promotion and relegation, but I think Italy remain too strong at home. Prediction: Italy by 9
Wales vs. Australia - Rugby Internationals
Wales’ losing streak has reached double figures, and Warren Gatland might be wondering why he returned. The Wallabies found some spark against England, and their gamble on Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii looked inspired as he added a significant threat out wide. If they bring a similar attack to Cardiff, I can’t see how Wales can live with them on the back of a defeat to Fiji. Prediction: Australia by 8
