Superbru 6: Sharks welcome back Springboks, Quins host Bath

The URC and Premiership Rugby tables are starting to shape, although the Stormers and Sharks will be alarmed to find themselves in the bottom 3 of the URC.

Here are my Superbru 6 predictions for the 6 matches I have picked out this weekend.

Friday

Scarlets v Bulls - United Rugby Championship
The Bulls are three from three so far this season, and enjoyed some success in Wales last week as they beat the Ospreys. The Scarlets represent a step up in terms of quality, however, and it might not be as straightforward as some people think. I’m backing the Bulls though, and this is the sort of game they need to win to be title contenders again. Prediction: Bulls by 4

Saturday

Sharks v Glasgow - United Rugby Championship
The reigning champions have had a strong start to the season, with three consecutive wins following a 1-point opening day defeat at Ulster. This is potentially a tough trip, but it depends which Sharks team turns up - now that we know the Sharks have picked a team full of Springboks I think it makes sense to go with a home win. Prediction: Sharks by 2

The Sharks lineup to face Glasgow Warriors

Stormers v Munster - United Rugby Championship
This is a repeat of the final of URC 2, which ended with Munster lifting the trophy, and a look at the head-to-head record shows that the Stormers have never beaten Munster. But given the Irish side have lost away to Zebre this season, I’m backing a home win here. Prediction: Stormers by 7

Harlequins v Bath - Gallagher Premiership
Quins tripped me up last weekend by beating Saracens, and now they face another tough test as they welcome Bath to the Stoop. Their record against Bath is much stronger than it was against Sarries, and with last week’s boost the confidence, I’m going for another home win. Prediction: Harlequins by 2

Dragons v Benetton - United Rugby Championship
Realistically, the Dragons will not feature in the Superbru 6 very often, but I hesitated over this game because it’s a tough pick to make and therefore worthy of inclusion. The hosts have had two close defeats at home in the last two weeks, and maybe this is the chance to turn around their season? Prediction: Dragons by 2

Sunday

Leicester v Gloucester - Gallagher Premiership
I’ve chosen this fixture because the last 3 meetings have all seen away wins, and 5 of the last 7 in fact. It should also be entertaining, given the scoreline of some of Gloucester’s matches so far, but Leicester’s win over Northampton last week is making me lean towards a home victory for this one. Prediction: Leicester by 8

How do you see the weekend’s matches unfolding? Which picks do you disagree with here?

Easy to pick the winning team..... The question is how far will the winning difference be?

Bulls by 4 seems reasonable, especially as none of the Springboks Steenekamp, Nortje and Elrich Louw make this week's line-up. Plus it is raining! Bulls love the Highveld of the Northern Transvaal. Scarlets could even win. They did last year, 37-28!!

Bulls are playing away LOL 18 Oct 12:22
Yes Munster lost to Zebre but they also beat the Ospreys 23-0, whom the Stormers lost to! What we know is that Munster 1. have some players back, 2. always have a poor start to the URC, 3. get better as the season progresses and 4. most importantly ABSOLUTELY love the challenge of playing away in South Africa ( as do Glasgow for that matter). I have Munster again to win it.

I agree. Munster will want to get a double over the Stormers. Sharks will bounce back with a good commanding win over Glasgow especially with 10 Springboks in the Starting team. Bulls might sneek a win but I\'m hoping Scarlets to cause an upset and win by 3 or less 18 Oct 09:08
And on a separate matter Hoskins Sotutu is going to come and play for England. It's unbelievable how he doesn't get picked for the All Blacks! Ever time he has played for NZ they have won the game, his record playing for them is like played 10 won 10. I can't wait to see him in an England shirt now! NZ some funny decisions, management etc. 18 Oct 10:16

I seem to have a glitch, where i am not seeing the player list for the URC and Premiership Fantasy game. is anybody have a similar problem. Did some disgruntled employee wipe clean all the data for the players from Superbru's servers

Surely the Stormers have more than 2 Springboks at their disposal? Is Libbok still on honeymoon as I don\'t seem to see his name on the team list unless he\'s on the bench..... 18 Oct 12:31
Nope Jurie Matthee is on the bench as FH cover - Manie is not there 18 Oct 13:16

Eish. Could be a long day at the office for the Stormers. With saying that, they do have a habit of somehow closing out games and winning when they are trailing so it will be interesting to see how they go on Saturday 18 Oct 13:51
Munster will be hurt from last week and be pumped for stormers
18 Oct 14:52
Agree with you Ox! 18 Oct 15:46
Hutch had the sentiment right - Scarlets !! a step up in terms of quality, however, and it might not be as straightforward as some people think. Exactly what happened!
