Superbru 6: Premiership and URC return following November break
We’re back to club rugby action this weekend as the URC and Premiership Rugby return.
Here are my Superbru 6 predictions for this weekend.
This is a huge Irish derby, but with Ireland taking on Australia outside the international window, many of the internationals will be unavailable. I suspect that might just tip the balance in Ulster’s favour, and they have won two of the last three against the Dublin side. Prediction: Ulster by 2
Harlequins v Bristol - Gallagher Premiership
These two teams have a history of high-scoring games, and it makes it difficult to predict. Quins have looked fairly strong at home, but Bristol are unbeaten away from home this season. If Marcus Smith starts, I’m predicting a home win. Prediction: Harlequins by 4
The Sharks enjoyed two good home wins before the international break, whilst the Stormers lost to Glasgow and currently sit 13th in the table. The Sharks have named a very strong team featuring their returning Springboks, and so I’m predicting a home win here. Prediction: Sharks by 7
Connacht v Bulls - United Rugby Championship
This is a tough pick, with Connacht generally tough to beat at their home ground, and the Bulls less formidable away from home. However, with Bundee Aki and one or two others still away with Ireland, I’m going with the crowd and backing the Bulls. Prediction: Bulls by 2
Munster v Lions - United Rugby Championship
I’m not going with the crowd for this one, who seem to be siding with the Lions. I think Munster will win relatively comfortable, even without their Ireland players, and I can’t see Lions even getting close to a win at Thomond Park. Prediction: Munster by 13
The Tigers were the form side in the league before the international break with four wins in a row, but this is a tough trip to Sale. Again, I’ll check on team news to see if the likes of Handre Pollard and Freddie Steward will be involved, as well as the Curry brothers for Sale, but I’m leaning towards a Tigers win. Prediction: Tigers by 2
How do you see the weekend’s matches unfolding? Which picks do you disagree with here?
