Super Rugby: Team of Round 4

This week's Super Rugby round was pretty predictable and therefore high scoring in our fantasy game. Large wins with lots of points for the Crusaders and the Lions mean it is them that feature most in this week's TOTR as both have the maximum of four representatives. The Lions would have had a fifth member had team limits allowed, with prop Dylan Smith (10.5) narrowly outscoring the Crusaders' Alaalatoa.

Here is this week's best possible Super Rugby fantasy team:

Most represented teams in this week's TOTR: Crusaders, Lions (4 players), Blues (2 players).

This week's ideal captain was Rieko Ioane who appears in this TOTR alongside his teammate and brother, Akira. Rieko scored an incredible FOUR tries against the Sunwolves which helped him to 33.5 fantasy points. Other notable high scoring players include debutant Sevuloni Reece who made 31 points for the Crusaders and several players who have retained their spot in this TOTR from last week including Will Jordan, Ngani Laumape, Handre Pollard and Kwagga Smith. Pollard is by far the best performing kicker and fly half so far in this year's game having played a crucial role in what has been a very good start to the season for the Bulls.

Looking at the forwards, it's little surprise to see the Crusaders and the Lions continuing to dominate. Each of the top five highest scoring props this season play for one of those two teams while Loose Forward Marnus Schoeman is the highest scoring player in his position so far in this campaign. That said, teammate Kwagga Smith and Highlanders LSF Shannon Frizell both have a slightly better points-per-game tally.

Moving on to look at the best score actually managed at Superbru, this week's best performing player in the whole of our SR fantasy game was Clinton Moura from South Africa! Clinton is a well-capped bru who currently sits inside the top 3% globally! Here's his Round 4 team which managed 294.5 points:

As you can see in the graphic above, Clinton selected 7 of the TOTR players (8 if you include Dylan Smith) and crucially made Rieko Ioane his captain!

In our daily Super Rugby fantasy game - a different kind of test as you select five players you believe will perform best on each day of the Super Rugby season from lists we provide - the best possible selections were as follows:

Friday: Coltman, Pocock, Laumape, Maddocks, Barrett (84.5 points)
Saturday: Goodhue, Schoeman, Moroni, R. Ioane, Pollard (122.5 points)

Let us know in the comments how you got on in R4 and how many of the TOTR you had in your XV. The deadline for Round 5 is kick-off in the Chiefs v Hurricanes match on Friday.
