Super Rugby Predictions: The Finals!

The three matches last weekend were all fairly easy to predict, and actually the two finals this weekend both have a clear favourite.

It's the last chance to move up your leaderboards to take a pool win and bragging rights into the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman tournament starting next week, but the chances of an underdog win are slim.

Here are my Super Rugby predictions for this weekend.

Super Rugby Aotearoa

Crusaders v Chiefs It's disappointing to have Super Rugby so split like this, but then watching back to back finals seems like a great way to spend a Saturday. This first game should be a cracker, because whilst it's a final and things can often get tense, I expect both teams to play and make it an exhibition. It seems futile to try to analyse how the match will go, because we know the Crusaders will win any final in Christchurch, so let's just sit back and enjoy the spectacle. Crusaders by 7

Super Rugby AU

Reds v Brumbies We're then onto Australia, where it's likely to be another home win. The Reds have been the form team all season, recording two victories over the Brumbies along the way, and they'll have the confidence to win this final. The lineups are interesting, with the Reds picking captain Luke Wright on the bench, along with potential match-winners like Seru Uru and Filipo Daugunu, who should come on to play the finisher role and close out the match. A try extra here and there or one ruled out in error could swing both of these outcomes. Its a case of looking at your pools rankings & global percentages and doing what needs to be done to give yourself any chance. If you are top 12%, risk dropping to 14% if its the only way to get in the top 10%. But 'Your mileage may vary' as the yanks say.
