Senegal squad named for 2026 World Cup

An initial 28-man Senegal squad has been named for the 2026 World Cup.

Senegal squad

Since FIFA only permits 26-man squad by the registration deadline at the start of June, Pape Thiaw will need to cut a couple of outfield players from his squad during their upcoming training camp, but here is his initial list in full:

Technically, Senegal aren't AFCON champions any more after being stripped of the title many weeks after that chaotic final in Morocco earlier this year, but there's no doubt that this is one of if not the strongest African squad at the tournament.

Senegal have experience and quality all over the pitch, with considerable pace and finishing ability in attack through Nicolas Jackson, Ismaila Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye, Assane Diao and of course national icon Sadio Mane.

Former Chelsea duo Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly are the defensive pillars, while the midfield is packed full of Premier League level players.

How will they get on?

Senegal are in what should be the most entertaining group at the World Cup alongside France, Norway and Iraq.

A win over Iraq should be enough to progress regardless, but will we see Senegal trouble France and Norway too?
