Scotland squad named for 2026 World Cup

The Scotland squad for the 2026 World Cup squad has been confirmed!

Scotland squad

This will be Scotland's first appearance at a World Cup since 1998, and just like that year, they'll be facing both Brazil and Morocco in the group stage this summer. Haiti completely Group C.

Here's the 26-man list Steve Clarke has selected in full:

Under Clarke, Scotland have become a well organised side and they possess considerable midfield quality through Aston Villa's John McGinn, Bournemouth's Ryan Christie, and Napoli duo Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay.

In such a tough group, we can expect the Scots to be reasonably resilient because of that quality and Clarke's coaching, but scoring goals is likely to be the challenge. Chances may be few and far between against Brazil and Morocco, so whichever forwards Clarke selects will need to be clinical.

Equally, a high-scoring win over Haiti will likely be enough for a place in the Round of 32 since 8 of the 3rd-place teams in the group stage progress, but that will also require efficient finishing.

We really have a lot of poor players.

McTominay is probably our best player and he cannot even control games - just a box crasher, like Bellingham.

We will be home after the group, even with three teams going through from 8 of the sections. I wouldn't be surprised if Haiti beat us, in all honesty. and we finish on 0 points.

Robertson and Tierney are both past it, and were some of our better players in the past. Shankland can score goals but his all round game is average, plus that dinosaur of a coach of ours barely gives him a chance anyway,.Still prefer him on the pitch than poor players like dykes or adams
The defence is a total bomb scare - john souttar?! and the others aren't much better

Maybe I am being harsh. Most of our fans know we are a poor side. Just being there is good but I think Haiti is a typical Scotland banana skin. They have pace to burn and will be playing on a hot and humid night in the Americas... 19 May 12:36

The fact that they play Haiti first is probably a good thing rather than potentially losing to Morocco and Brazil first and then being under even more pressure? If they can win that opener, I'm interested to see how they get on against the 'big two' with the pressure reduced somewhat. I take your point about Haiti's experience in the conditions though and you're probably right that they'll make things difficult for themselves! 19 May 13:33

True Jack. You can look at it that way. But on the other hand, if they lose that game or draw, they have their two hardest on paper games to come. Makes a good start imperative which has never been Scotland's forte.

I am in a weird position with Scotland. I am not generally a patriotic person, but a part of me is proud to be Scottish. On the other hand, I think the SFA have made a mess of our game and don't wanna see anything that gives them credit. I won't really be that bothered if we flop - far more important things happening in the world. 19 May 13:35

But yeah, talking about the tactical ideas of things.

Haiti have a lot of athletic, fast players, apparently. And they came through a group containing Costa Rica and Honduras despite not having home advantage for political reasons. Scotland will go in as favourites and expected to play the football, letting them hit us on the break.

That allied to the conditions means everything is set up for Haiti to get something. Of course we could win, but I think sensible Scotland fans would be mindful and not underestimate Haiti. 19 May 13:38

Another factor is that, while it's not as intense as Miami, Haiti have a big diaspora in Boston and New England generally so will likely outnumber us in the crowd. 19 May 13:44
