Premier League: Team of Round 13

The community average in our 11-a-side Premier League fantasy game increased by almost 10 to 53.5 this week in a high-scoring round at Superbru. The Team of the Round is full of players that made it into double figures over the past few days thanks to Manchester City dominating once again and a surprise performance from Huddersfield at Molineux.

Here's is this week's Team of the Round - it's not very often the team is made illegal for having too many Huddersfield players! As I always note, this team shows the highest scorers regardless of who they play for to act as a guide for players in each of our fantasy games. However, if you did wish to make this the best possible XI in our full fantasy game then you'd simply switch Schindler with any of the 8 defenders that managed 7 points this week.

Defence

This week's TOTR goalkeeper is Wayne Hennessey who thoroughly deserves his place after helping Crystal Palace to a very impressive clean sheet at Old Trafford. This was Palace's first PL clean sheet since a goalless draw with Newcastle in September and the Eagles could have come away with more than a point had they been slightly more clinical or had a little more luck gone their way. Goals are of course what win games, but also what boost your Superbru fantasy tally most effectively, just as Erik Durm and Trent Alexander-Arnold found out this weekend.

Involved with an assist and a goal respectively, Durm and Alexander-Arnold helped their team in the attacking third of the pitch as well as by keeping a clean sheet as Huddersfield and Liverpool picked up impressive away wins in Round 13. Liverpool's defenders have been attractive options at Superbru all season due to the likelihood of a clean sheet but it's Robertson and Alexander-Arnold that stand out as full-backs due to their attacking returns. Alexander-Arnold's direct free-kick on Saturday was a timely reminder of his set piece ability that was also demonstrated in the Champions League last season.

After picking up defensive points for tackles and interceptions, Huddersfield's Christopher Schindler is the final defender in this TOTR but only due to his points tally across the season as a whole because lower-scoring teammate Terence Kongolo also managed 8 points in the clean sheet win at Wolves.

Midfield

It's not often you see a midfield of players with double figure scores but that's the case this week with Dele Alli and Raheem Sterling (10) the lowest scoring TOTR midfielders. Those two players managed both a goal and an assist against Chelsea and West Ham respectively. Whilst Sterling's return justifies his popularity in our fantasy games, it was Leroy Sane that made himself the real star for Manchester City against West Ham as he managed 17 points. As can be seen in the graphic below, Sane's points were all down to a dominant attacking display that Superbru players should perhaps take note of even in spite of the German international being in and out of the side.

With the attacking Benjamin Mendy now sidelined for a few months, Sane is arguably more likely to start games as Guardiola had previously hinted he didn't like the pair playing together down the left because of the lack of defensive protection. With Delph filling in at LB as he did last season, will Sane now become a frequent starter?

The final two midfielders in this TOTR are comparatively smaller names in Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield) and Stuart Armstrong (Southampton) but both managed an amazing 13 points after bagging a brace each at the weekend. Mooy is the far more frequent starter of the two so would be the more logical selection if you are looking for a relatively unique midfield pick. As we've seen on many occasions in our 5-a-side game, a brave pick from a smaller club often pays off.

Strikers

Finally, this week's TOTR strikers are less obscure with Harry Kane partnering Aleksandar Mitrovic up front. Kane scored one of the more bizarre goals of his career against Chelsea as both defender and goalkeeper appeared to avoid trying to block his shot but the England captain played a huge part in a very good Spurs performance at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Mitrovic scored twice to help Fulham to a huge win in Claudio Ranieri's first game in charge of the Whites. Fulham face a couple of tricky fixtures next with Ranieri reunions against Chelsea and Leicester but if they do score goals, there's a good chance Mitrovic will be the one bagging them.

Premier League ideal 5-a-side teams by round this weekend:

Saturday: Hennessey, Alexander-Arnold, Alli, Sane, Mitrovic (58 points)
Sunday: Lossl, Schindler, Mooy, Brooks, Aubameyang (39 points)
Monday: Dubravka, Clark, Cork, Ritchie, Vokes (25 points)
