Premier League: Team of Round 10

A far more successful weekend than Round 9, Round 10 of our Premier League fantasy game saw the average bru score 53 points as Liverpool, Chelsea and Bournemouth all picked up high scoring wins and clean sheets.

This week's Team of the Round (TOTR) is an XI that was possible to select due to their being no more than two players from a single Premier League club. With many players scoring strongly in Round 10, there were three 'ideal captains' this week and another two players scoring just one point less than the 13 managed by Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Ross Barkley.

Defence

Interestingly, players from Brighton and Watford were all you needed in an ideal defence for Round 10! Picking up home wins over Wolves and Huddersfield respectively, both clubs saw their goalkeepers keep a clean sheet and make more than six saves meaning Mat Ryan and Ben Foster each scored 8 points in this round. In front of Ryan, the backline is headed by right-back Bruno who assisted Glenn Murray for Brighton's winning goal as well as making more than three tackles to help the Seagulls to their clean sheet and victory.

The other defenders to make the TOTR - Watford's Kiko Femenia and Adam Masina - also managed assists to go alongside their clean sheets with Masina scoring one less point due to receiving a yellow card. With away trips to Newcastle and Southampton next up for Watford, their defenders are certainly worth considering though each of these TOTR players should be picked with caution.

Neither have played many first team games this season due to Daryl Janmaat (RB) and Jose Holebas (LB) being the Hornets' preferred full backs. However, with Janmaat injured and Holebas suspended against Wolves in Round 9 Javi Gracia opted to stick with Femenia and Masina for Round 10 as well as they managed a clean sheet at Molineux. Janmaat remains injured meaning Femenia is likely to continue at right back but Holebas is available for selection.

Midfield

As mentioned in the intro of this article, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Ross Barkley all scored an impressive 13 points this weekend. Each of these players look like strong options going forward with Salah and Mane quite obvious options and Barkley cementing a first team place at Chelsea having now scored in three consecutive matches for the Blues.

Salah and Barkley picked up their points in the same way, a goal and two assists, while Mane managed a brace and a number of successful dribbles. The absence of the injured Eden Hazard in Chelsea's game at Turf Moor gave the Liverpool wingers a chance to catch up with the Belgian on the overall fantasy points leaderboard and Salah is now just 6 points behind Hazard's season tally of 65. Mane has managed 51 points so far.

Joining these three in the TOTR midfield five is Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic and Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser. After missing a penalty against Everton in Round 9, Milivojevic stepped up and scored two this weekend to help his team to a decent point at home against Arsenal - ending the Gunners' lengthy winning run. Fraser picked up his points through chance creation as he bagged two assists at Fulham. Other good midfield picks that managed just a point less than Fraser included Pereyra, Pogba, Deulofeu, Success and Martial.

Strikers

There weren't many good options in the striker department this week with many failing to find the net so the 5% that own Callum Wilson in our fantasy game and the 3% that picked him in Saturday's 5-a-side round can feel very pleased! Wilson scored twice at Craven Cottage in Bournemouth's 3-0 win over Fulham and now sits just 3 points behind his fellow striker in this week's TOTR on the overall season points table.

Yes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his scoring form with a goal against Palace after being given a first start since Round 7 by Unai Emery. The top three strikers for the season so far now reads Aguero (59), Aubameyang (58) and Wilson (55) which suggests both forwards in this week's ideal team are well worth picking. Some may be unhappy with Aguero after another poor away showing in this round but his home form tends to be worth the low scores away from home, especially with Southampton (H) next up.

Let me know how you got on in each of our fantasy games during this round. Round 11 starts on Saturday at 12:30 on a day that will see 7 games in total including an unusual 19:45 kick-off between Wolves and Spurs. There are then two games on Sunday (MCI vs. SOU and CHE vs. CRY) before another Monday round of 5-a-side fantasy for the game between Huddersfield and Fulham.
