Premier League: Round 24 Predictions

Round 23 of the Premier League Predictor was a difficult one with Luton's 4-4 draw at Newcastle particularly tricky to get Exact, and I had only 4/10 overall so need to improve this week!

Round 24 runs from Saturday through to Monday night and looks a little more friendly for Predictor players but we all know that's rarely the case...

Here are my predictions for each match in Round 24 of our Premier League Predictor game.

Manchester City vs. Everton

We saw Everton bag themselves a point in the early Saturday kick-off last week, but this is a considerably tougher test than playing Tottenham at home. City look a level above everyone else in this league in my opinion, and it would be a big surprise to see them slip up here. Manchester City 3-0 Everton

Fulham vs. Bournemouth

This is one of the more tricky picks of the round, and I'm wondering if we might see each of these teams extend their respective run of draws to three in a row. Bournemouth are the slightly better side who are more likely to win I think, but Fulham are rarely easy to beat and I wouldn't rule out Armando Broja scoring on his home debut for the club. Fulham 1-1 Bournemouth

Liverpool vs. Burnley

Liverpool will be after an instant response after their disappointing defeat at Arsenal last weekend, so I don't think this is a great time for Burnley to be heading to Anfield. Only Manchester United and Arsenal have avoided defeat at Liverpool so far this season, and I think the Clarets might be conceding a few in this one. Liverpool 4-0 Burnley

Luton Town vs. Sheffield United

Luton continue to really impress and punch well above their weight, so you won't be surprised to hear that I think they'll beat Sheffield United at home this weekend. From Sheffield United's point of view, this does of course remain an opportunity to pick up desperately needed points on a relatively level playing field which is a rarity for them this season, but Luton are clearly the form side and Ross Barkley is looking very good. Luton 2-1 Sheffield United

Tottenham vs. Brighton

Brighton looked more like themselves in beating Palace comfortably last weekend, but I'm still not really convinced by them so I'm predicting a Tottenham victory here. Spurs are conceding too many goals but do look sharp in attack and Heung-min Son's return will only help that further. Tottenham 3-1 Brighton

Wolves vs. Brentford

Wolves continue to really impress and Gary O'Neil deserves so much credit because it's easy to forget how much many of us thought they would struggle at the start of this campaign with financial issues and Julen Lopetegui walking out last minute. They're a joy to watch in attack and now have Hee-Chan Hwang back available as well so I think it makes sense to predict a home win. Wolves 2-1 Brentford

Nottingham Forest vs. Newcastle

This is probably the one I'm most torn on this week, and I just have a feeling that Forest might beat Newcastle again. The Magpies are conceding a lot of goals so I think there'll be opportunities for the hosts and Forest desperately need a win. Newcastle are probably rightly favourites, but having only won twice away so far this season I think I need to see them follow up that good performance at Villa with another away win before I'm confident enough in them to pick an away win. Nottingham Forest 2-1 Newcastle

West Ham vs. Arsenal

West Ham have already beaten Arsenal twice this season so this could easily go either way but I think I'm sticking with the 'safe' option of an Arsenal win. The Gunners are certainly due a victory over the Hammers after signing their best player and confidence should be high after that win over Liverpool. West Ham aren't at their best at the moment and have arguably been thrown off balance by the Phillips signing in my opinion as I said last week, though I am wary of how often they raise their game for London derbies. West Ham 0-2 Arsenal

Aston Villa vs. Manchester United

I'm still leaning slightly towards Villa for this match, but the midweek defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup is a concern because they were terrible. When things go wrong under Emery (which isn't too often), they're really, really bad. It sounds like Pau Torres will be back on Sunday which is why I still feel they might win, because sticking with the high line against Chelsea without both him and Konsa backfired hugely.

United seem to be building a bit of momentum but it's very hard to rely on them for consistency and aside from their win over West Ham, they're still only really strong in moments rather than across 90 minutes. Villa found that out the hard way in the reverse fixture where they got stung by a dramatic comeback whern they really should have won quite comfortably, so I think there might be a response both to that and Wednesday night here. Aston Villa 3-1 Manchester United

Crystal Palace vs. Chelsea

The flip side of that Villa game I've just been discussing is that Chelsea looked good for the first time in a long time. The performance came out of nowhere, because they were of course absolutely terrible last weekend against Wolves, but I think they should be able to win this game too just because of how bad Palace are at the moment and the fact that they have a very good record in this fixture. Roy Hodgson is obviously taking some real criticism at the moment and fans are understandably very frustrated about how often their key players are injured, so this appears to be a good time for Chelsea to be heading to Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace 0-2 Chelsea
