Premier League: Round 15 Predictions

I had an average 5/10 in Round 14 with an Exact for Brentford's 3-1 win over Luton. I'm slightly frustrated about not picking Chelsea, though they tried their best to give Brighton the draw I predicted!

We're now straight into a midweek round that has some very significant fixtures.

Here are my thoughts on each Round 15 game.

Wolves vs. Burnley

Burnley will be delighted with that home win on Saturday but it probably says more about Sheffield United and it would be a surprise if they can follow up with a win at Molineux. Wolves aren't always the most clinical so you always have to think twice about picking them but they've looked a far better side than Burnley this season. Wolves 2-1 Burnley

Luton vs. Arsenal

As with all of Luton's home games against the big guns, this is a difficult choice between Arsenal scoring early and then quite possibly battering Luton as they should on paper, or a far more tense affair if the Gunners don't start well and the Kenilworth Road crowd carry the Hatters in a Cup tie style atmosphere. Both are very possible so there's a good chance I'll be way out but I think Luton might make Arsenal work for this. Arteta's team are strong defensively though so I'm not sure the hosts will manage a goal like they did against Liverpool to really make Arsenal sweat. Luton 0-2 Arsenal

Brighton vs. Brentford

De Zerbi rotates quite a lot anyway but it feels as if he played a slightly weaker side at Chelsea on Sunday and can now field a pretty strong XI here. Brighton haven't been great in terms of results in the league but they still rarely lose at home and this will be tough for Brentford due to their injuries/suspensions in my opinion. Brighton 2-1 Brentford

Fulham vs. Nottingham Forest

Not an easy pick as I don't have much faith in either team but Fulham have at least found some goals lately - I didn't see that high scoring game at Anfield coming! I'm very tempted by a draw but Forest seem to be going in the wrong direction at the moment so let's go with Fulham to just edge it. Fulham 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Sheffield United vs. Liverpool

It sounds like Paul Heckingbottom will have been sacked before this game takes place and while you can't really claim he was ever likely to turn things around, I'm not sure any manager can. Despite being promoted, the Blades have a worse team than they did in the Championship last season so I think the chances of a 'new manager bounce' or any real up turn in form are quite slim. Liverpool have been poor on the road but this should be an easy one. Sheffield United 0-4 Liverpool

Crystal Palace vs. Bournemouth

A draw is very possible here but Palace's record in this fixture is great and I'm not yet convinced by Bournemouth away from home so I'm leaning towards the Eagles. Palace have a few injuries but I don't think they're in any real danger of relegation so it might be nice to some experimenting in terms of team selection from Roy Hodgson rather than playing too safe. Chris Richards playing out of position in a midfield role at the weekend was a fun start as I thought he played well. Crystal Palace 2-1 Bournemouth

Aston Villa vs. Manchester City

I'm really torn on this one as it has all the ingredients for an Aston Villa win and yet it's still so hard to pick against City, especially since Villa never seem to beat them. Without Rodri, we know City are a lot weaker and Villa's style of play is perfect for exploiting the weaknesses in the champions even when Rodri is fit, but this is the first top side Villa have hosted this season so I'm not reading too much into their (still very impressive) 100% home record. Guardiola should have a plan and City will be fired up by how that Spurs game ended so I'm going with them. Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester City

Manchester United vs. Chelsea

Both of these teams are short of where they want to be and neither have shown any real consistency this season which means it's difficult to pick a winner. Chelsea's record against United has been poor for some time and they haven't won at Old Trafford for ages so I'm going with a draw as we've seen plenty of those between these two in recent years. United were dreadful at Newcastle but they have been in quite a few games that they've won at Old Trafford too so I'm not sure why there's been quite so much noise following a defeat that the majority of us saw coming and I don't think it changes how we should see this game really. Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea

Everton vs. Newcastle

I reckon there's a good chance this one finishes level too considering Newcastle's only away win this season was that crazy 0-8 at Sheffield United. Nick Pope is yet another big injury blow for the Magpies and Everton have been playing for well for a number of weeks now. The Toffees' overall home form is concerning but they seem to have clicked a bit since late October. Everton 1-1 Newcastle

Tottenham vs. West Ham

Games between these two often get quite lively but this should be the game where Spurs finally get back to winning ways for the first time since October. Their squad availability is gradually getting better and they should take a lot of belief from that late Kulusevski equaliser at the Etihad. Tottenham 3-1 West Ham

Could you bring something that could be brought in to stop players from just picking the same score for each match 2-1for every match.

does it really matter what scoreline each player decides to pick for himself or herself? afterall this is just a game of chance because one day someone can have a very good day of predictions then the next time that person can have a very bad day of predictions. 7 Dec 02:50

It doesn't work like that. A prediction is what it is. I will predict 20 nil for my next prediction. 5555 7 Dec 05:59
