Premier League Predictions: Round 36

Round 35 was a tough one despite their being so many opportunities to pick up Superbru points. I had a round that matched the community average - there were a few upsets but I certainly didn't see the Fulham and Crystal Palace wins coming!

We're now back to normal in terms of the number of fixtures in each round between now and the end of the season. The action at the top of the table is set to stay tense right up until the final day and the games involving the teams competing for a top four place are likely to remain a Superbru nightmare.

Here's what I'm going this weekend. Feel free to share your own opinion and/or picks in the comments.

Liverpool vs. Huddersfield

You have to back Liverpool here. Huddersfield have shown time and time again that they're not quite strong enough to compete in the Premier League and this is an ideal fixture for Liverpool to go straight back top and put more pressure on City despite them getting past Spurs and United. Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Huddersfield

Tottenham vs. West Ham

Tottenham may well have one eye on Ajax here, but they should still have enough for a West Ham side that don't really have much to play for now. They also have Son who will almost certainly start since he can't play on Tuesday. The fact it's a London derby may raise things slightly, but Spurs should be very focused and get the job done knowing that a win will all but seal top four for them. None of the other teams seem to want Champions League football! Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 West Ham

Crystal Palace vs. Everton

This one is a little tricky as Palace have been poor at home and Everton certainly aren't as good away as they are at Goodison. Both teams can feel very pleased with their last result and optimism should be high for each of them but Everton have the better XI. Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton

Fulham vs. Cardiff

Fulham are suddenly slightly dangerous to pick against! Rather than continuing to struggle after relegation like Huddersfield, the Whites are playing with freedom and that's a problem for Cardiff who really need these points. I just feel that Neil Warnock and his side have had that warning though now. There'll be no surprises when Fulham turn up and play well. I expect Cardiff to do the job defensively and nick a goal at Craven Cottage as they are of course the only side that actually needs the points. Prediction: Fulham 0-1 Cardiff

Southampton vs. Bournemouth

Bournemouth have been playing with me over the past couple of weeks. I mention how I feel they've been underachieving this season a couple of weeks ago so they go and batter Brighton 5-0, then I pick them against Fulham at home and they get beat! I rate Southampton, they deserved more against Watford and now should get themselves safe here. Prediction: Southampton 2-1 Bournemouth

Watford vs. Wolves

Watford have already beaten Wolves twice this season so this is a chance to really rub the salt in and prevent them from qualifying for Europe via the league as well as the FA Cup. It's a hard match to call but the Wolves pattern of performing far better against the big sides than they do everyone else is still going strong. After that Arsenal win, I think they'll lose here. Prediction: Watford 2-0 Wolves

Brighton vs. Newcastle

What a monster game this is for Brighton. After shutting up shop at Wolves to get a point, and nearly doing the same at Spurs, they've put all their eggs in this basket which isn't the worst move, it's just that it means they actually have to score a goal. Newcastle being safe should work in their favour and I think they'll edge it. The fact that I'm backing Cardiff to win as well means the relegation fight wouldn't quite be over anyway though. Prediction: Brighton 1-0 Newcastle

Leicester vs. Arsenal

Arsenal are so bad on the road so I've got Leicester here. I should have picked Wolves on Wednesday rather than a draw as it was always likely, so I'm going against them this time which means they'll probably get their act together now! Brendan Rodgers has a good squad of players and I can see Vardy causing that Gunners defence serious issues. Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Arsenal

Burnley vs. Manchester City

This is a really tricky game for City that may actually prove more difficult than the derby was. I'd probably back them anyway such is their quality but the scenes at Stamford Bridge on Monday with Burnley celebrating so hard after their point really convinced me as it suggests they feel like their work is done now this season. Fair play to them and Dyche, after such a bad start they've done well to get to where they are. Prediction: Burnley 1-2 Manchester City

Manchester United vs. Chelsea

This final game is a nightmare to call, but not for the usual reasons. You normally see this fixture and think about which of the star players is most likely to prove decisive, and whilst that is still arguably the case, this time it feels as if you need to pick which side you think are simply more able to put in an improved performance to gain some relief from a very poor season rather than who is the better team. United have lost so many games lately and Chelsea have been dreadful in away games since the turn of the year. I'm sitting on the fence but see United as the slightly more likely team to win with home advantage. If Arsenal do lose early in the day, Chelsea would definitely take a point. Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea

Another bad round so far I guess...
Liverpool only managed to get me a solo point by far in this round, so hopefully I'll do better tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I also see Leicester overcoming the gunners & since this round looks like a one with upsets, I might get something out of this game.
A sure win for City and perhaps a win for OGS's side?, despite their recent results vs the former they've been good @ home in the EPL.
