Predictions: Jack's Round 6 Premier League Picks

As always, there's a fun fixture list in the Premier League this weekend, which notably includes a few 'revenge games' which I always enjoy watching as players go up against their former clubs.

Last week, Enzo Maresca denied us a beauty in this regard as Alejandro Garnacho didn't even come off the bench to try and silence the United fans that were insulting him, but I'm confident we'll see Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro (and many other ex-Brighton players at Chelsea) and Kyle Walker face their former teammates in Round 6.

Last round

A very average 4/10 for me. An exact for the Sunderland 1-1 Aston Villa game was pleasing, Tottenham's equaliser at Brighton was not.

Here are my thoughts on Round 6.

Brentford vs. Manchester United

I think Brentford have a reasonable chance against United, assuming they don't get their goalkeeper sent off after 5 minutes, but it's tough to rely on them for goals this season in comparison to last. United remain far from convincing and might have an issue on the right side with both Amad and Mazraoui out, but in Cunha, Mbeumo and perhaps even Sesko they have more players who could edge this game with a goal than Brentford do. I'm going to regret picking United to manage back-to-back wins, aren't I? Prediction: Brentford 1-2 Manchester United

Chelsea vs. Brighton

Chelsea suddenly look very vulnerable and I'm really not convinced that they'll win this game. Cole Palmer is obviously a big miss, particularly since they've left themselves so short of centre forwards and Joao Pedro can't play two positions at once, but defence is now also an issue injury wise and this is the first of 3 very difficult fixtures for the Blues in the space of about 8 days. Brighton haven't been getting wins but they've been scoring fairly consistently and I think they can get a point here. Prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Brighton

Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool

The only two remaining unbeaten sides this season. Palace are among the best structured sides in the division and I'm very tempted by a draw pick for this game too, but I'm just wondering if Liverpool find a way yet again, perhaps with an Isak winner now that Ekitike has handed him his place in the team with a fairly amusing red card in midweek. The Reds will surely drop points at some point, but equally Palace will surely lose at some point? Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool

Leeds United vs. Bournemouth

As you could probably tell from my prediction, I was quite surprised to see Leeds United score 3 goals last week, but it was against Wolves so I think I'll need to see another good attacking display here before backing them to score quite consistently. Bournemouth are a good side and I think they'll scrape a win at Elland Road. Prediction: Leeds 1-2 Bournemouth

Manchester City vs. Burnley

City should walk this. I said at the start of the season that I think they'll have a strong year and I haven't yet changed my mind on that. Last weekend was a very unusual performance from them but it was also almost a very good win and I'm enjoying seeing Pep Guardiola switch styles here and there. Of course, it helps when you've got an absolute monster up front. So far this season I'm back to just enjoying the sheer power and quality of both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe who look like they might score 100 each this season for their respective clubs. Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 Burnley

Nottingham Forest vs. Sunderland

I don't think it will be plain sailing, but I think Nottingham Forest will end up winning this. Sunderland have been great so far this season and may even start as the sharper side having not played in midweek, but it's Forest who have the greater quality in attack and they badly need a league win. Prediction: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Sunderland

Tottenham vs. Wolves

This should be a pretty routine home win. I'm not sure Wolves have the necessary creativity in attack to cause Spurs enough defensive concern really, so the hosts should be throwing plenty of players forward to get the goals that they need. Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Wolves

Aston Villa vs. Fulham

Predicting Aston Villa matches isn't much fun when they're playing so far below their usual level, but I've had success picking their recent draws so let's continue with that pattern for now. Fulham are tricky to beat under Marco Silva and I'm not sure Villa's win in the Europa League was convincing enough to suggest they've turned a corner. Prediction: Aston Villa 1-1 Fulham

Newcastle vs. Arsenal

Newcastle away is always a tough fixture, as Arsenal will know having lost there a couple of times in recent seasons, but I think they have the tools to come out on top this time around. They've become a really solid, powerful side under Mikel Arteta and with Newcastle not yet at their best offensively as they adapt to a new attack, I think the Gunners are visiting at a good time. Prediction: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal

Everton vs. West Ham

Unless the Graham Potter faces we've been seeing literally all over social media this week are a sign that he's about to pull off a masterclass at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, it's hard to think of another reason why you might back the visitors here. I think this will be relatively competitive because while Everton do have some decent attacking quality, they aren't really built to blow teams away in my opinion, but a home win is likely. Prediction: Everton 2-1 West Ham

Best of luck with your own Round 6 predictions!

I expect more goals from the Citizens. Maybe a good game from Haaland. A defeat for Man United.
