Predictions: Jack's Round 4 Premier League Picks

After a break for the first internationals of this 2025-26 season, Premier League football returns this week with Nuno gone, Ange Postecoglou back, lots of brand new players set for debuts and the beginning of a very busy month of football.

European competition begins in midweek, so that's already something to consider when making Premier League predictions for the relevant teams.

Our Champions League Predictor is live and ready for you to join so make sure you've done that after making your Round 4 picks!

Last round

It all started so well with an Exact for Chelsea's 2-0 win over Fulham (which was very fortunate) but that and United's narrow win over Burnley ended up being the only two I got right!

Let's hope the more settled feeling around each squad now that the transfer window has passed makes for some slightly more generous Predictor rounds...

Here are my thoughts on Round 4.

Arsenal vs. Nottingham Forest

The appointment of Ange Postecoglou by Forest isn't hugely surprising because of his Greek background and links with Evangelos Marinakis, but it doesn't make too much sense beyond that in my opinion based on the current squad and the style of play that this team is used to. However, I do wonder if being appointed mid-season like this hands Postecoglou an excuse to finally show a bit of adaptability and pragmatism since there's surely no way he can rock up at the Emirates and tell his Forest backline to stand on the halfway line and basically do the opposite of what they have for over a year.

Arsenal remain without a couple of key men but some of their so-called 'depth' players like Noni Madueke and Mikel Merino have just enjoyed excellent international breaks and I think they're well placed to win this quite comfortably. Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Bournemouth vs. Brighton

This feels like a bit of a coin flip as you can make a good case for either of these teams winning this game. With that in mind, I think I'm going to risk an away win for Brighton on the basis that many people won't. I've had a poor start to this Predictor so need to try and make up a bit of ground and these teams are very evenly matched. Prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Brighton

Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland

Crystal Palace are another team that will be without a couple of key players this weekend but holding on to Marc Guehi in the transfer window is huge for the Eagles and you have to make them favourites here. Like the other promoted teams, I think Sunderland will be far stronger at home than they are away this season. I'm intrigued to see how Yeremy Pino goes with Palace - in LaLiga, he never quite showed enough consistency to justify the hype that many give him in my opinion but this is a very well built Palace team to enter and potentially thrive in under Oliver Glasner. Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-0 Sunderland

Everton vs. Aston Villa

Can Aston Villa finally score a goal this week? Everton probably have to be considered favourites, but Villa surely have to improve given Unai Emery's ability as a manager and I like the signing of Harvey Elliott. It feels harsh going against the Toffees given how fun they've been with Jack Grealish hitting the ground running, but I'm wondering if their level drops slightly, Villa improve slightly, and we see a draw. Prediction: Everton 1-1 Aston Villa

Fulham vs. Leeds

Fulham need to take this golden opportunity for a first win of the season. Leeds will struggle on the road this season in my opinion, and don't even have their first-choice goalkeeper for this one, so you'd think the home team will have too much. Prediction: Fulham 2-0 Leeds

Newcastle vs. Wolves

I'm expecting Newcastle to kick on a bit now that the transfer window is done. Wolves on the other hand, feel like they're going to struggle quite a bit this season, and listening to Vitor Pereira in his press conference doesn't exactly fill you with optimism. I'd be surprised if the hosts don't win this. Prediction: Newcastle 3-0 Wolves

West Ham vs. Tottenham

This is an important derby for both sides, particularly West Ham. At the very least, Graham Potter needs a performance from his side to indicate that last week's surprise win at Forest wasn't just a one-off. The fans will want a result as well though, especially since West Ham rarely lose this fixture at home, but I think Spurs might edge it. The midfield that thrived in the win away at City should run this game and you wouldn't bet against Mohammed Kudus scoring... Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Tottenham

Brentford vs. Chelsea

This feels a bit similar to the match I've just discussed in the sense that Chelsea ought to win away from home but their record against Brentford is far from convincing. The fixture also falls at an awkward time for the Blues with plenty of their South American internationals only just back in the country and an away game against Bayern Munich coming up on Wednesday. A draw really wouldn't surprise me, but Brentford aren't as strong as they have been in recent years. Prediction: Brentford 0-1 Chelsea

Burnley vs. Liverpool

Like everyone else, I'll be backing Liverpool here. The gulf between these two squads is huge and now that we've seen Liverpool beat both Newcastle and Arsenal in back-to-back rounds, you'd be brave to back Burnley here. Prediction: Burnley 0-3 Liverpool

Manchester City vs. Manchester United

It shouldn't be, but it says it all about where Manchester City currently are that this actually feels like a difficult prediction to make. United are clearly still all over the place, and will be without both Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount who have been two of their better players in these early weeks, but Amorim has done well against Pep Guardiola in the past and United have raised their game to win this fixture a few times in recent years, so it feels very possible that it happens again here given City's similarly fragile state.

I'm interested to see how it plays out. To me, City signing Gianluigi Donnarumma signals that Guardiola is ready for a fairly severe change in approach, and we've already seen them play much more directly into Erling Haaland so far this season. They have plenty of injuries to content with themselves, but if City are somewhat ready to go 'back to basics' and just pack their midfield to dominate United's huge weakness in the middle of the park while looking to provide Haaland with chances, I think they'll win. Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Manchester United
