Predictions: Jack's Round 37 Premier League Picks

We're approaching the end of another Premier League campaign, but with this being a World Cup summer, it's time to get excited rather than feeling sad.

Despite this being the penultimate round, there aren't many dead rubbers, and that's largely down to mid-table being so congested.

Last round

4/11. Like Crystal Palace, I'm largely just waiting for the season to end at this point so I can focus on a different tournament 😁 My gamble on Arsenal dropping points so nearly paid off before VAR ruined what would have been a great Exact!

Road the World Cup update

🇨🇮🔑 The Ivory Coast key was won by 'SuperSpets' from South Africa! He had a remarkable 11/11 round with 23.5 points in total. A fantastic effort and Nic has since claimed his place in the Superbru 48 World Cup league.

🇯🇴🔑 The Jordan key will be awarded to the top performer in Round 37 as part of our Road to the World Cup campaign.

Here are my thoughts on Round 37!

Aston Villa vs. Liverpool

As Villa's last 3 results suggest, they're largely just focused on the Europa League now and with that final coming up on Wednesday, I can't see them picking a strong team tonight. Liverpool might not be good enough to capitalise, but I think it's more likely than not. Villa's last home league game was a shocking performance against Spurs. Prediction: Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool

Manchester United vs. Nottingham Forest

It sounds like by the time this match begins, Michael Carrick will be confirmed as the new permanent head coach of Manchester United and you'd think the optimism that brings in United's final home game of the season will result in three points. Forest have been great lately but the pressure is off them now. Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Brentford vs. Crystal Palace

Like Villa, Palace are largely just going through the paces now while they wait for the Europa Conference League final so this is a big opportunity for Brentford who are playing for a place in Europe next season. I think it'll be reasonably close but Brentford should win. Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Crystal Palace

Everton vs. Sunderland

It hasn't been a great season for Everton in terms of home results in their new stadium, but can they finish on a high at the Hill Dickinson Stadium here? I can't really see Sunderland winning, but a draw is very possible. Let's go with a 1-1 which would reflect how this season has gone for the Toffees at home. Prediction: Everton 1-1 Sunderland

Leeds vs. Brighton

This should be quite a good game because Brighton have plenty of motivation and Leeds were really good at Tottenham on Monday night in my opinion. Based on that motivation, a Brighton win makes sense, but their last couple of away games haven't been great and I think the hosts can manage a point in their farewell game for the season at Elland Road.Prediction: Leeds 2-2 Brighton

Wolves vs. Fulham

I'm a lot less excited by this game. Honestly, any of the 3 potential outcomes are very possible here and I feel a bit for Fulham fans who have yet another season ending with uncertainty over Marco Silva's position and fairly ordinary displays on the pitch. They ought to win this match to give themselves an outside shot of a late surge into Europe on the final day, but their recent away performances have been really poor. Prediction: Wolves 0-0 Fulham

Newcastle vs. West Ham

West Ham need to win this one. Clearly, they're on the back foot in the relegation fight, but a victory here would change things massively. If Tottenham end up heading to Chelsea inside the relegation zone on Tuesday, then that could become a really rough night for them against a rival and West Ham could carry the momentum into the final day. They've won away at Newcastle reasonably recently and the Magpies have had an underwhelming season so... could they?

Newcastle seem to have settled a bit since Bruno Guimaraes has been back and Eddie Howe needs wins himself given their table position, but I think this is winnable for the Hammers. As I said last week, I largely just want to see drama so let's go with an away win. Desperation often leads to wins for the relegation-threatened teams at this stage of the season - just look at the wild ongoing battle in LaLiga. Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 West Ham

Arsenal vs. Burnley

Clearly, the 'drama' here would be if Burnley were to get a result, but I really can't see it. Arsenal will understandably be nervous given what they're on the verge of achieving, but with that in mind, they couldn't be blessed with a nicer fixture. I think they'll dominate. Prediction: Arsenal 4-0 Burnley

The final two games don't take place until Tuesday and after tomorrow's FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester City. If you haven't made a pick for that final, it's worth doing so to try and win a Road to the World Cup key.

City are favourites, but I don't think the outcome of that final affects my thoughts on these final two Premier League matches in Round 37 anyway so on we go...

Bournemouth vs. Manchester City

Bournemouth's situation is quite strange at this point because they could well end up in the Champions League next season if 6th place ends up qualifying and yet Andoni Iraola has already decided to leave in the summer and now defender Marcos Senesi is following him out the door. Their form hasn't really been affected thus far, so this is a tough game for City, but I expect the visitors to win and make Arsenal work for their title on the final day. Prediction: Bournemouth 1-3 Manchester City

Chelsea vs. Tottenham

This matchup is always a must-watch but we could be set for the best edition since the 'Battle of the Bridge' if West Ham win on Saturday. The circumstance is wildly different with Spurs fighting for survival rather than the title, but Chelsea are in absolutely terrible form so there's not too much for Roberto De Zerbi's side to fear unless Chelsea are coming off an FA Cup final win.

However, form is often irrelevant in derbies anyway and Chelsea fans will be absolutely desperate to see their team push Spurs into the Championship. At one point, it was looking as if Tottenham's fate could be sealed in this match so they have at least avoided that, and we could yet see things go the other way because if West Ham fail to win then Spurs could achieve PL survival at Stamford Bridge instead. The home crowd will be demanding 3 points here though and in almost all previous seasons we've seen Chelsea come out on top in this game. Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham

Good luck to you all in Round 37.
