Predictions: Jack's Round 33 Premier League Picks

What a Premier League fixture list we have this week. There are storylines absolutely everywhere, derbies sprinkled all over the place and the headline clash between Manchester City and Arsenal this Sunday afternoon.

Last round

I had 5/10 and 8.5 points overall with an Exact for Burnley 0-2 Brighton. Bournemouth and Leeds really did pull big upsets, but I should have picked Sunderland rather than a draw.

Road the World Cup update

🇧🇪🔑 The Belgium key is still to be awarded while I wait to hear back from a winner. The top two managed a very impressive 22.5pts in Round 32!

🇸🇳🔑 The Senegal key will be awarded to the top performer in Round 33 as part of our Road to the World Cup campaign.

An exciting update on the prizes available in our Superbru 48 league (which you qualify for via the Road to the World Cup campaign) was published this week here.

Here are my thoughts on Round 33!

Brentford vs. Fulham

If Harry Wilson scores another winner in this game they might have to name the derby after him, but Fulham haven't been great in recent weeks and I feel it might be Brentford that come out on top. Clearly, you can't rule out a draw given Brentford's form streak, but Bees fans will certainly feel they're due a win in this fixture. Prediction: Brentford 2-1 Fulham

Leeds vs. Wolves

It's funny how quickly form can change - Leeds felt like they were sleepwalking into the relegation battle not long ago and yet after an FA Cup quarter-final win and then a shock league win at Old Trafford, they're flying high and could go a long way to securing their safety with another win here. After Wolves' result at West Ham last week, it feels likely. Prediction: Leeds 1-0 Wolves

Newcastle vs. Bournemouth

There's all sorts of narrative around this game. Newcastle are obviously struggling a bit this season and Eddie Howe is facing his former club at an awkward time, while Bournemouth are on a great run but have this week had Andoni Iraola confirm he'll be leaving the club at the end of the season. I really thought Newcastle would win at Palace last week but losing that game having been 0-1 up after 80 minutes is a real blow. With Bruno Guimaraes still absent and Joelinton also missing for this one, I think Bournemouth get at least a point. Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Bournemouth

Tottenham vs. Brighton

There obviously remains a chance that Roberto De Zerbi turns things around with this only his second game in charge, but based on what we've seen from each of these teams in the last few weeks, you have to pick Brighton. Spurs have been absolutely terrible for months and I can't see De Zerbi's former side letting him of the hook. Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Brighton

Chelsea vs. Manchester United

These two teams both have their flaws (Chelsea more so than United) but also some very talented players so I think this might end up being quite a fun match to watch. I'd say it's a must-win for Chelsea and one that United will perhaps feel they just want to avoid losing, so I'm wondering if we'll see a draw. The atmosphere could also play a part either way as there's a pre-match protest planned by Chelsea (and Strasbourg) fans against the clubs' owners. Prediction: Chelsea 2-2 Manchester United

Aston Villa vs. Sunderland

I'm going with Aston Villa for this one as they were great last night against Bologna and look fairly well placed to finish the season strongly. Sunderland are of course also going well and could yet make Europe, but away from home they're understandably weaker most of the time. Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 Sunderland

Everton vs. Liverpool

The first Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium was always going to be a big deal regardless but it's unexpected that Everton could move within 2 points of Liverpool if they win this! That outcome certainly isn't out of the question, but I'm leaning towards a draw which is what we often see in this fixture when Everton are at home. The timing of this game really isn't great for Liverpool after a Champions League exit and big injury to Hugo Ekitike but perhaps we'll see Alexander Isak step up or Mo Salah star in his final derby. Prediction: Everton 1-1 Liverpool

Nottingham Forest vs. Burnley

Only 3 points will do here for Forest and you have to make them favourites. If they can beat Porto in a big European quarter-final they can surely beat a Burnley side that has won once since October. Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-0 Burnley

Manchester City vs. Arsenal

I often say that a team is rarely quite as good as people think when being massively hyped in the media and rarely as bad as people make out when being heavily criticised, which is definitely the case with these two teams at the moment, but the momentum is unquestionably all with City here. Arsenal look incredibly nervous and they're up against a manager who turns his teams into machines at this stage of the season.

I don't think it's necessarily a case of City win this game and then just charge to the title with a 100% winning run, but it is hard to see Arsenal getting anything from the Etihad after how things played out in the League Cup final. Mikel Arteta has had some time to come up with new plans after that defeat of course, but there isn't going to be a massive change in approach I wouldn't think and Arsenal have looked really timid playing out from the back ever since that day at Wembley.

I still think there's a tiny chance of Arsenal getting themselves in front against the run of play and then holding on for a draw which would be huge, but I'm going with a City win. I think there'll be a few more twists in the title race yet, though. Prediction: Manchester City 2-1 Arsenal

Crystal Palace vs. West Ham

It's hard to know how well Crystal Palace will turn up for this game having been away in Italy on Thursday night. I can't imagine Spurs fans were over the moon to see Palace players out for the night in Florence after reaching the Europa Conference League semi-finals, but this game isn't until Monday night and the Eagles' result against Newcastle has me questioning my pick for this game. I still think I'm going with West Ham just because we're reaching that stage of the season where the teams in the relegation fight keep winning due to their additional motivation. There's been quite a few away wins in recent meetings between these sides too. Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 West Ham

Best of luck with your own predictions! I'll add some thoughts on the midweek games that have been added to this round on Tuesday once I've seen how the weekend has gone.

Agree with a lot of these, Maybe be tempted for Bournemouth and even Chelsea to win, and City to win by two goals not one, but in general a lot of good choices. I will make mine tonight or tomorrow morning. Good write up, Jack.
