Predictions: Jack's Round 12 Premier League Picks

After a very entertaining international break that included some excellent scenes in places such as Budapest, Glasgow and Kingston, we're now focused on club football again for the busy winter period.

The Premier League resumes with a new manager at Wolves and a North London derby to enjoy.

Last round

7/10 and 12.5 points. A pretty decent round that got me a yellow cap in a few leagues. Let's hope we can build on that.

Here are my thoughts on Round 12.

Burnley vs. Chelsea

I’m going to try not to overthink this one as Chelsea should get the job done. They have two massive home games coming up immediately after this but results like their Sunderland defeat should guard them against complacency before they get to said games. Prediction: Burnley 0-2 Chelsea

Bournemouth vs. West Ham

Bournemouth have been really solid at home so far this season so I think they’ll come out on top here. West Ham’s defence is still a concern having conceded twice at home to Burnley. Prediction: Bournemouth 2-0 West Ham

Brighton vs. Brentford

Two reasonably evenly matched teams where I think it just makes sense to pick the club playing at home. I’d be going with Brentford if this was at the Gtech but Brighton also have solid home form and they’ve tidied their defensive record up a bit in recent rounds, too. Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Brentford

Fulham vs. Sunderland

I can see why a few people are backing Fulham as the home side, but it’s hard to go against Sunderland given their results so far this season. Having won at Chelsea and drawn with Arsenal last time out, why can’t they win at Craven Cottage? Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Sunderland

Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest

I don’t expect the chaotic feel around the team to subside any time soon, but Liverpool should win this match and continue their typically strong Anfield form. Forest are yet to win on the road in this campaign. Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Wolves vs. Crystal Palace

It’ll be interesting to see how Rob Edwards gets on at Wolves as he’s been very courageous to take the job. Their squad is far from strong, but it’s better than 2 points from 11 games would suggest, so if he can find a couple of early wins then the momentum shift can suddenly change how the bottom of the table is looking. I’d be surprised if they manage a victory here against this Palace team, though. Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Crystal Palace

Newcastle vs. Manchester City

Newcastle are always capable of a big win at home but I think based on results so far this season it makes sense to pick Manchester City here. Having beaten Liverpool so comfortably before the break, another win in one of the most difficult away fixtures would be quite a statement from Pep Guardiola and his team. Prediction: Newcastle 1-3 Manchester City

Leeds vs. Aston Villa

I’m not sure this will be a classic but these teams look to be heading in opposite directions at the moment so it’s probably Villa who are the more likely to snatch a winner. I’m slightly tempted by the draw but I’d be surprised if Leeds win. Prediction: Leeds 0-1 Aston Villa

Arsenal vs. Tottenham

Tottenham so rarely win at Arsenal and it feels highly unlikely that this is the season where that changes. Gabriel is a huge miss for the Gunners, probably more so as a goal threat than as a defender given Cristhian Mosquera’s ability to deputise, but Arsenal should have too much regardless given how much passion and energy there will be in the stadium. Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham

Manchester United vs. Everton

Finally, I don’t think Everton have shown enough away from home to sway me from picking Manchester United here. The Red Devils have found some consistency of late and with only 1 game a week this season, their key players look fresh and dangerous in each Premier League round. Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Everton

Thanks Jack. Also got the yellow cap on round 11 with 12,5 points. Agree, there might be a draw in 1 of the games. Problem is which one 🤔

Stats are 2.5 draws per 10 match round very roughly. Pick 1-3 as draws out of these match-ups; Fulham v Sunderland, Brighton v Brentford (I'm in Brighton as I type this waffle btw) and/or Leeds v Villa. Purely based on average goals scored & conceded home or away per fixture. No 'fan-bias' or historical fixture data, just current form. I've only gone for 1 myself btw..for now?
