Premier League Predictor: Round 8 Predictions
After an international break which saw the most notable news come off the pitch rather than on it as England confirmed the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as their new manager, club football returns this weekend which means it's back to making picks on Superbru Football!
I was on a poor run of Predictor form prior to the break, so let's hope this round kick starts a rise up some leaderboards. In our Premier League Predictor, the Superbru Jackpot of £10,000 remains up for grabs to anyone that manages to hit 28 points.
Here are my thoughts on each game. How do your predictions compare?

Chelsea look as if they'll hurt every team with their attack this season, and this is an opportunity for Enzo Maresca to pick up a real statement win, but I have my doubts about whether or not their defence will hold up against elite opposition. Liverpool, on the other hand, have looked very assured defensively under Arne Slot, largely because of their possession play, so it's on that basis that I'm going with a narrow home win. Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea
Good luck with your own picks in Round 8!

Tottenham vs. West Ham
Tottenham are just never quite capable of putting the kind of consistency together that makes you feel comfortable when backing them to win on Superbru, as after winning 5 in a row across all competitions, they then somehow lost a 0-2 lead at Brighton and ended up with nothing. This London derby was one that Spurs lost last season and West Ham should have a bit more confidence after their result against Ipswich, but I still don't think we've seen enough from the Hammers so far this season to justify predicting a result for them here. Prediction: Tottenham 3-1 West HamFulham vs. Aston Villa
Fulham were good away at Manchester City last time out where they should have picked up at least a point so this certainly isn't an easy game for Aston Villa, but I feel as if the visitors are likely to be the more clinical in front of goal. I expect Villa to get at least a point as a result and they may even steal all 3 in my opinion. Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Aston VillaIpswich vs. Everton
Another very difficult pick. Ipswich won't get too many more favourable home fixtures at Portman Road this season than this one, but that doesn't mean it's an easy game and Everton have found a bit of solidity in the past month or so. Kieran McKenna's team played well against both Fulham and Aston Villa but ultimately failed to win either of those home matches and I just wonder if this game ends up being a similar story? I'm not sure the hosts will manage a clean sheet which obviously makes winning more difficult. Prediction: Ipswich 1-1 EvertonManchester United vs. Brentford
I'm quite surprised Erik ten Hag is still in charge of Manchester United, but just as in the summer, that's perhaps more down to the lack of favoured replacements as opposed to true faith in his ability to bring league success any time soon. For as long as I can remember, predicting Manchester United scorelines has been horrible as you can't count on them at all, but Brentford look like good opponents in which to at least end their scoreless Premier League run. I'm hesitantly going with a home win to follow the general pattern of ten Hag buying himself another couple of weeks with a victory before hanging on for dear life again amid heavy media speculation about his job - a fixture away in Turkey against Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce is next which I'm sure will calm everything down. Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 BrentfordNewcastle vs. Brighton
This should be a fun watch given the talent both clubs have in attack, but I'm backing Newcastle to come out on top at home. Brighton's last away outing at Chelsea was a poor showing and so unless the approach is quite different for this game, I think we'll see a similar outcome. Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 BrightonSouthampton vs. Leicester
It feels as if the only reason to pick Southampton here is because they're at home and it's their only remaining game of the season you can argue that they might be favourites to win on paper, but I'm not even convinced that that's the case as Leicester battered them twice in the Championship last season. The Foxes have had better results than I expected them to have so far this season and Saints are conceding a lot of goals so I'm going with an away win. Prediction: Southampton 1-2 LeicesterBournemouth vs. Arsenal
At home, Bournemouth have been giving everyone a game this season, but Arsenal should have enough quality to extend their strong start to the campaign. I think Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz will be fine to start after what sound like 'precautionary' withdrawals from their international camps. Prediction: Bournemouth 0-2 ArsenalWolves vs. Manchester City
Considering just how poor Wolves look defensively at the moment, this is a nightmare fixture for the hosts. Man City haven't looked at their best of late and I actually think Wolves will score as Gary O'Neil's team look OK when they have the ball, but there's every chance that Erling Haaland is going to have an absolute field day at the other end. Prediction: Wolves 1-4 Manchester CityLiverpool vs. Chelsea
I'm really interested to see what happens here. Both Liverpool and Chelsea have enjoyed great starts to the season but they've also had fairly favourable fixture lists up to now and this is the start of a really testing period for each club.Chelsea look as if they'll hurt every team with their attack this season, and this is an opportunity for Enzo Maresca to pick up a real statement win, but I have my doubts about whether or not their defence will hold up against elite opposition. Liverpool, on the other hand, have looked very assured defensively under Arne Slot, largely because of their possession play, so it's on that basis that I'm going with a narrow home win. Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea
Nottingham Forest vs. Crystal Palace
Draws are common between these two teams and I wouldn't be surprised to see another one here. Nottingham Forest deserve a lot of credit for their result at Chelsea and solid start overall, but this is still a tricky game and Crystal Palace aren't too far away from an uplift in results in my opinion despite their winless start. Equally, it feels unlikely this is the game they suddenly manage a victory in given how sound Forest have been defensively, so let's go with 1-1. Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Crystal PalaceGood luck with your own picks in Round 8!

If SB still did Football Fantasies I'd probably just stick to them as the rewards are at least proportionate. Mind you , my FPL was just as cursed WASTED my ONE transfer on pen-causer Raya and left Pen saver Martinez on my bench, with clean-sheeters Dunk & B'mouth's Kerkez. You COULD NOT make it up!
