Premier League Predictor: Round 20 Predictions
Another 7/10 in Round 19 means that like Wolves, I've had a pretty reasonable Christmas period considering the first half of the season was fairly rough overall!
Let's hope for further improvement now that we're into 2025.

Tottenham vs. Newcastle
Tottenham's poor run of form has continued for some time now and it doesn't sound as if their defender injury list is improving. I think those absentees plus Spurs' style of play will play into Newcastle's hands somewhat. Eddie Howe's team look excellent at the moment and while Tottenham should still give them slightly more of a game than Man Utd did in the last round, I think Newcastle can keep up their winning run. Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 NewcastleAston Villa vs. Leicester
Aston Villa should take the points here. It will be interesting to see if Leicester or Ipswich manage to do anything in this January window to close the gap between themselves and the teams just above the relegation zone because as things stand, I don't fancy their chances. Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 LeicesterBournemouth vs. Everton
Looking at Bournemouth's recent home results makes me think this could be a draw given how much Everton love a stalemate, but the Cherries are the stronger side in my opinion and perhaps Everton's defeat to Forest was the start of their typical descent back into real trouble before they miraculously stay up at the last as we've become used to in recent seasons? It's hard to back Sean Dyche's team to pick up points when they so rarely score a goal. Prediction: Bournemouth 1-0 EvertonCrystal Palace vs. Chelsea
Chelsea really need a win here and I'm backing them to get one based on their historic record at Selhurst Park rather than their recent performances. I think Crystal Palace will really make them work for this and the hosts could easily manage a point or 3 but it feels like Chelsea have too much attacking quality to go too many games without a win (they're unlikely to keep a clean sheet though). Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 ChelseaManchester City vs. West Ham
I'm torn between two extremes for this game. If Manchester City play like they have for many of their recent games, West Ham will fancy their chances on the counter even without Jarrod Bowen, but if City are even close to their usual level, they may well batter them. Given each team's most recent result, I'm going with the latter. Prediction: Manchester City 3-0 West HamSouthampton vs. Brentford
Brentford should finally get an away win here. The table rarely lies and Southampton are miles short of where they need to be in order to compete in this league. Even with such a poor record on the road, you'd think Brentford get a result this time with the players that they have. Prediction: Southampton 1-2 BrentfordBrighton vs. Arsenal
I'm going with a slight upset here as I think Brighton might manage a point. They're one of a few teams in the league who appear better equipped to defeat a 'big' side than the teams beneath them on the table and Arsenal are unlikely to be as consistent results wise without Bukayo Saka. It's a bit harsh on the Gunners who have just come through a difficult fixture at Brentford with 3 points and while I obviously wouldn't be surprised at all if they win, that shorter turnaround is another factor to consider. Prediction: Brighton 1-1 ArsenalFulham vs. Ipswich
Both of these teams have been boosted by recent wins over Chelsea, but surely Fulham actually manage to win one of these favourable home games at some point? Though they're having a fantastic season, I think Marco Silva will have been frustrated by recent results at Craven Cottage so he'll want to make sure his team put Ipswich to bed. The home win over Chelsea was special night for Ipswich but I have my doubts as to whether or not they're good enough to put 2 wins together. Prediction: Fulham 2-1 IpswichLiverpool vs. Manchester United
There's a very small part of my mind reminding me that Manchester United sometimes snatch a result in a game like this as they did at Manchester City recently, but their record at Anfield is terrible over the last 7 or 8 trips and Liverpool are on fire at the moment (unlike City). Realistically, based on the performances of each team of late, Liverpool could absolutely destroy their rivals here. It was less than a couple of years ago that we saw United get done 7-0 at Anfield and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this is similar, but surely Ruben Amorim adds legs in midfield and ensures this is more respectable than that? Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Manchester UnitedWolves vs. Nottingham Forest
There's some slight hesitation here because of Vitor Pereira's good results since taking over at Wolves, but it's hard to go against Nottingham Forest this season and Matheus Cunha will be a big miss for the hosts. Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Nottingham ForestGood luck with your own predictions!

Fulham v Ipswich 2-1. Ordinarily I'd agree but seeing as its one I've been invited to it will doubtless end 0-0 or 1-0 if I'm lucky. Last season I went to West Ham v Brighton's 0-0 then Brighton v Forest 1-0, whoopty-do & whey hey! The match I turned out as I'm too brassic is Spoz v Newcastle, so I expect a 3-4.
