Premier League Predictor: Round 19 Predictions

Round 18 of the Premier League Predictor was one of my better rounds so far this season as I had 7/10 including an Exact for West Ham's 0-1 win at Southampton.

Managing to predict the draws at Bournemouth and Brighton was pleasing, but I'm going to need much more in this round if I'm to continue making up ground after a fairly average first half of the campaign.

It's very rare to have a Sunday start but the show must go on so make sure you've reminded those that you share a league with to make their predictions today as well. Here are my thoughts on each game - share your own in the comments section!

Leicester vs. Manchester City

City's terrible run continues and I probably should have seen a draw coming against Everton given the Toffees' recent results, but I'm still refusing to pick against City in this game because Leicester really aren't very good in my opinion and even on current form City should score at least a couple against them. Prediction: Leicester 1-3 Manchester City

Crystal Palace vs. Southampton

It wouldn't surprise me if Southampton get a point here because they're now becoming more competitive and Crystal Palace haven't been great at home, but this is still a golden opportunity for Oliver Glasner's team to get another win on the board at Selhurst Park. Marc Guehi's absence is a concern for the hosts but they should be able to manage a clean sheet regardless or at least only concede once against this Saints attack. Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Southampton

Everton vs. Nottingham Forest

This is a very difficult one. Nottingham Forest just keep marching on and could well end up with European football next season at this rate, but Everton aren't losing many games at all. However, it looks as if both Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye are injury doubts for the hosts and if neither of them make the starting lineup, I'm not sure they can score in this game. I'm going with a narrow away win but may switch to 1-1 if McNeil and/or Ndiaye end up starting. Prediction: Everton 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Fulham vs. Bournemouth

Another very close game to call and I wonder if we might see a draw? Fulham were excellent at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day and deservedly picked up an historic win, but both they and Bournemouth seem to thrive in those 'big games' more often than they do in more routine home fixtures and I think we might see these teams cancel one another out a fair bit. Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Bournemouth

Tottenham vs. Wolves

Just as in the last game where they lost at Nottingham Forest, there really doesn't feel like there are too many reasons to pick Tottenham here? I know they're considered bookie favourites by a lot considering they're the home side and Wolves' defence has been the worst in the league this season, but Vitor Pereira has overseen back-to-back clean sheets since being appointed and Ange Postecoglou could be playing himself at centre half in this game at this rate with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin all injured. Both teams' respective runs have to end at some point, but it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if Wolves beat them given the new manager bounce and Matheus Cunha's incredible form. Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Wolves

West Ham vs. Liverpool

Liverpool are looking really, really good so I'll be predicting another win for them here. West Ham have found a bit of form and could well find a goal like Leicester did against Liverpool in the last round, but as in that game, I think the Reds will stay quite cool and get the job done simply because that's basically all we've seen happen so far under Arne Slot. Prediction: West Ham 1-3 Liverpool

Aston Villa vs. Brighton

A victory for Aston Villa makes sense here as Brighton's winless run continues. Newcastle away always looked like an awkward fixture for Villa so I'm not going to read too much into that defeat and I think they'll bounce back in this game. Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Brighton

Ipswich vs. Chelsea

Can Ipswich finally win a home game as we approach the halfway point in the season? I'm not convinced. Chelsea have looked ordinary in their last two matches but obviously remain in a strong position overall and I think Enzo Maresca may rotate slightly to get the win that the Blues suddenly look as if they really need. Prediction: Ipswich 0-2 Chelsea

Manchester United vs. Newcastle

A bit like as I mentioned with Spurs, there looks to be very little reason to predict a Manchester United win here. My only hesitation is that United will often win a fairly big fixture like this one to kid everyone into thinking that they're 'back' before losing a couple of matches against weak opponents, but Newcastle look very strong all of a sudden and it seems silly to ignore their recent results. Prediction: Manchester United 1-2 Newcastle

Brentford vs. Arsenal

I've been backing Brentford to win at home consistently during their excellent start to the season at the Gtech Community Stadium, but with their injury list now growing and their unbeaten home start officially over, it feels like Arsenal are probably the team to back here. As with many Gunners games this season, I'm not sure this will be a classic, but Mikel Arteta's side should take the points. Prediction: Brentford 0-1 Arsenal
