Premier League Predictor: Round 13 Predictions
We had a pretty brutal Round 12 on Superbru. Aside from the wins for Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, the rest of the results were correctly predicted by <36% of the community with 5 results predicted by <9%.
I definitely didn't see the Wolves or West Ham wins coming and it turns out things are much worse than I thought at Manchester City!

I assumed their defeats prior to the international break were down to injuries and that they'd come out the blocks sharply this past week, but the Tottenham game was woeful and then the Feyenoord draw is perhaps even worse for confidence given the manner of the comeback? The goals that they conceded were so poor, particularly from Ederson.
So while there's still the factor that they're defending champions who are capable of a turnaround and all the rest of it, it's hard to see anything other than a Liverpool win here considering the Reds have been better than anyone expected in Arne Slot's first few months. It's going to be fascinating to see how Pep Guardiola attempts to get City out of this without Rodri and Mateo Kovacic in midfield but based on how they're defending at the moment, Liverpool are going to be a real problem. Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and then even Timo Werner tore City apart last weekend so Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are not the guys you want to be facing this week. Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester City

Brighton vs. Southampton
After recent rounds, I struggle to trust any Premier League team and I'm conscious of this being the kind of fixture that Brighton always drop points in, but it seems silly to go against them now that they're looking so strong with Joao Pedro back. Southampton are improving slightly performance wise in my opinion but they still give so many avoidable goals away. Prediction: Brighton 2-1 SouthamptonBrentford vs. Leicester
I wasn't too surprised by Leicester sacking Steve Cooper as the appointment always seemed a bit doomed and short-term from the start, but I am surprised that it doesn't seem to have been because they have a replacement ready to go in almost instantly. Brentford have been excellent at home and their winning run at the Gtech should continue against a Foxes side under caretaker management. Prediction: Brentford 3-1 LeicesterCrystal Palace vs. Newcastle
Like most of the TV pundits on the night, I was expecting Newcastle to beat West Ham comfortably on Monday night so a 0-2 defeat is very disappointing. Now they're back on the road which doesn't tend to favour them at the best of times so I think Crystal Palace might get something here, especially if Eberechi Eze is back. Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 NewcastleNottingham Forest vs. Ipswich
Similarly, I'm wondering if we see a slightly surprising draw here with Ipswich Town in form and Nottingham Forest just slowing down slightly from such an excellent start. Ipswich have been really competitive in each of their last 4 games and though Forest are favourites with home advantage, particularly if Morgan Gibbs-White is back fit, I reckon Kieran McKenna's team might have enough in them for a point with confidence growing and Liam Delap in attack. Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 IpswichWolves vs. Bournemouth
A very difficult one. Matheus Cunha has received plenty of praise in these articles over the past year or so and continues to be absolutely excellent for Wolves, but I still don't trust them defensively. Bournemouth could easily go to Molineux and win but their chances are perhaps slightly reduced by Antoine Semenyo being suspended? I'm looking for a reason to go one way or the other so based on that let's go with a home win and hope for the best. Prediction: Wolves 2-1 BournemouthWest Ham vs. Arsenal
West Ham's win at Newcastle was impressive but it will take more than that to have faith in Julen Lopetegui's team and the Hammers got absolutely battered in this fixture last season. I think Arsenal are the logical choice here, particularly after a really good week of results so far. Prediction: West Ham 1-3 ArsenalChelsea vs. Aston Villa
It feels as if Chelsea are fairly well placed to win this game, with form and schedule both on their side considering they have a spare team for the Europa Conference League. Each game feels like a bit of a struggle for Aston Villa at the minute and though they were unlucky to have been denied that winner against Juventus in midweek, I'm not sure their recent performances have suggested they'll win at Stamford Bridge despite their good recent record away at Chelsea. Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Aston VillaManchester United vs. Everton
There's quite a clash here as Manchester United look like they're going to remain defensively vulnerable for some time while Ruben Amorim gets to grips with things, but Everton's recent games have been very low scoring. Sean Dyche will of course want to keep his side's strong defensive form going here and I think that we're more likely to see a low scoring affair as a result. Predicting a clean sheet for this United side feels bold but Everton are offering little in attack and Andre Onana has been very good of late. Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 EvertonTottenham vs. Fulham
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Tottenham find a way to lose this game considering they seem incapable of putting two wins together, but it's still tricky to back Fulham when Spurs show the kind of attacking quality that they did against Manchester City (albeit when given a lot of space). Fulham's result last week also makes it tricky to back them to win a far more difficult fixture on paper but they should manage a goal since Tottenham have so many defensive injuries. Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 FulhamLiverpool vs. Manchester City
I'm happy to admit to being completely wrong on Manchester City. Though in my season preview I mentioned that Arsenal could beat them to the title this season and that their slight drop-off may well come after the unprecedented feat of 4 titles in a row which always seemed like Guardiola's overriding aim after the treble the season before, I never anticipated something like this which is suddenly looking almost Mourinho 2015-16 level.I assumed their defeats prior to the international break were down to injuries and that they'd come out the blocks sharply this past week, but the Tottenham game was woeful and then the Feyenoord draw is perhaps even worse for confidence given the manner of the comeback? The goals that they conceded were so poor, particularly from Ederson.
