Premier League Predictor: Round 12 Predictions

After an international break that felt like one too many already this season considering it's only November, we are now officially into the hectic winter period where there's club football pretty much every day until March.

The Premier League table is incredibly tight after 11 rounds, so much so that it feels as if every team behind Liverpool and Manchester City stand a chance of being in the top four if they win this weekend. It makes for some tough predictions, but that is of course where the fun comes from when challenging your friends in a league.

Here are my picks for Round 12. Let me know your own in the comments!

Leicester vs. Chelsea

Chelsea didn't quite manage to pick up a statement win over Manchester United or Arsenal before the international break which I felt would have really shown that step forward in progress, but it's still hard to be too harsh on them when they're sitting 3rd as things stand. The Blues are gradually improving defensively, and this is a real opportunity to win with a clean sheet in my opinion as Leicester are struggling with injuries to attackers. The visitors ought to get the job done comfortably. Prediction: Leicester 0-3 Chelsea

Arsenal vs. Nottingham Forest

Arsenal quite clearly need a win here and I think so long as they manage to get one, there's still plenty of hope for them this season given how early in the season we still are. On the other hand, a defeat or even a draw would feel pretty disatrous and Nottingham Forest have obviously been good so far this season which makes this an interesting game. Forest's defeat to Newcastle makes it feel slightly easier to pick the favourites here, but if Chris Wood can bag the opening goal things will get very interesting as Nuno's side are well organised. Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Aston Villa vs. Crystal Palace

Aston Villa are another side in need of an uplift in form following the break and this should be a favourable fixture as Palace have been struggling and remain without quite a few midfielders due to injury. This should be a fairly comfortable home win in my opinion. Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Crystal Palace

Bournemouth vs. Brighton

This game is a bit of a coin flip but I think I'm going with a draw - Bournemouth have been excellent at home but I think Brighton will cause them some problems defensively, particularly now that they have some key players back from injury. If the Seagulls sneak a win they'll be in a great position with a very nice looking fixture list over the next couple of months. Prediction: Bournemouth 2-2 Brighton

Everton vs. Brentford

Brentford will surely manage at least a point away from home at some stage this season, but it's hard to back them on the road until they do and I think Everton can win this game. It's unlikely to be the most entertaining fixture of the weekend but the Toffees have been fairly solid for a number of rounds now after conceding an unusually large number of goals (for a Sean Dyche side) at the start of this season. Prediction: Everton 1-0 Brentford

Fulham vs. Wolves

I think it makes sense to go with Fulham here, as though Wolves have the attacking ability to cause an upset, I'm not sure their defence will hold up. Villa are the only away team to have won at Craven Cottage so far this season and I think Fulham will create quite a few chances through Emile Smith Rowe. Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Wolves

Manchester City vs. Tottenham

It's obviously been a tough couple of weeks for Manchester City results wise, but I've always felt that they'll be OK again after the international break with some key players given time to regain fitness, and there's now already been a boost in positivity thanks to Pep Guardiola signing a new deal. This is their first game at home for a while too where they remain unbeaten for a very long time so I'm not going against them.

Tottenham have a decent record against City in fairness and still seem like a team better suited to a game like this with lots of open space to attack so I think there will be goals, but this feels like a must-win for the hosts and when that's the case they usually get the job done (just as they did against Spurs towards the end of last season). Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Tottenham

Southampton vs. Liverpool

I won't spend long on this one as anything other than a Liverpool win would be a considerable upset. The Reds' record so far this season is quite remarkable given that Arne Slot is new to the Premier League but it's hard to see Southampton slowing them down having already lost 9 times this season. Prediction: Southampton 0-3 Liverpool

Ipswich vs. Manchester United

Like most people, I'm very interested to see how Manchester United shape up for this one in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge and things will also be freshened up by some players returning from injury - it sounds like Leny Yoro might finally be ready for his competitive debut for example. Ipswich surprised nearly all of us with that win at Tottenham last time out and while it's not impossible that they get a result and capitalise on United not being fully up to speed with Amorim's methods, I think you'd have to be brave to predict against the wave of optimism that has been generated by the new manager's arrival pushing the visitors to three points. Prediction: Ipswich 1-2 Manchester United

Newcastle vs. West Ham

Finally, I'm going with Newcastle in this Monday night game as they've begun to look a lot closer to their best under Eddie Howe in recent weeks. Howe looks to have restored much better midfield balance by playing Joelinton slightly further forward and having both Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock next to Bruno Guimaraes, so assuming he sticks with that formula I think this will be a tough evening for West Ham who have been disappointing after such a promising summer transfer window. Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 West Ham
