Germany squad named for 2026 World Cup
Germany's 2026 World Cup is here. It took a while - one name every half an hour throughout today to be precise - but it's here.
Oliver Baumann will therefore be relegated to second choice, with Julian Nagelsmann clearly convinced by Neuer's campaign with Bayern. Neuer, 40, is approaching 600 matches for Bayern and has just signed a contract extension, while he has 124 caps for the national team.
Here's the 26-man list in full:

There are of course plenty of other Bayern players in this Germany squad, though Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Jamal Musiala are very much exciting players representing a new generation who should be well supported by the experienced trio of Neuer, Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.
In attack, Germany will largely be looking to two Premier League players in Kai Havertz, who has just won the Premier League with Arsenal, and Liverpool's Florian Wirtz. It's fair to say Wirtz will have hoped for a better debut season in the Premier League since departing Bayer Leverkusen, but his performances for Germany throughout the past couple of years have been sublime.

How will they get on?
Germany share Group E with Ecuador, the Ivory Coast and Curacao. Few expect them to go all the way as they did 12 years ago in Brazil, but they'll expect to go fairly deep in this competition and those group games against Ecuador and Ivory Coast in particular should prove useful early tests to assess this German squad.Let us know what you think of their chances in the comments.
