Gallagher Premiership Round 3 Predictions!

It was four out of six for me in Round 2, having underestimated Leicester’s response to changing their manager, and obviously I didn’t pick the West Country draw.

I’m finding a bit more time to follow the Rugby after a hectic few weeks moving with my family from London to Cheltenham. I’m going to the Gloucester v Bristol match at Kingsholm this evening, and looking forward to writing on here a bit more.

Here are my predictions for Round 3 of the Gallagher Premiership.

Gloucester v Bristol

I think Gloucester will be very difficult to beat at Kingsholm this season, and would expect them to win this one. They look well organised, and with Danny Cipriani in fine form at fly-half, they could well be a top four side at the end of the season. Bristol also look well-organised though, and gave Sarries a scare last weekend, but I’m still backing the home team. Gloucester by 7

Exeter v Sale

I can’t see the Sharks getting close to the Chiefs at Sandy Park, and would expect this to be a third bonus point win out of three for Exeter. Exeter by 23

Harlequins v Bath

It has been a tough start to the season for Bath, and now they must visit the Stoop, where they haven’t won since the 2014/15 season. The home side has won this fixture on the last 5 occasions, and I’m expecting a similar story this time, but it should be close. Harlequins by 4

Northampton v Saracens

The Saints have had a torrid time against Sarries in recent meetings, losing by an average of over 43 points in the last four matches, conceding at least 55 points on all four occasions. It surely has to be closer than that this time, but champions Saracens will still be looking for a 4-try win. Saracens by 13

Worcester v Newcastle

This feels like an important game for Worcester – an early-season home game, where a third consecutive defeat could start to see confidence drain away, particularly with away trips to Leicester and Exeter up next. The Falcons will also be targeting a first win of the season, but their record at Sixways is terrible, and the home team has won this match on the last four occasions. Worcester by 2

Wasps v Leicester

Their thumping win over Newcastle last weekend will have done the Tigers’ confidence a world of good, but this trip to Coventry will be tough. Wasps have won five of the last six against Leicester, with the sixth a 1-point defeat at Welford Road in May. It has been a slightly stuttering start to the season for Wasps, but I think a win here will get them back on track. Wasps by 6
