First F1 Sprint of the season takes place this weekend in China
The 2026 F1 season is officially underway and it's been a stunning start for Mercedes who enjoyed a 1-2 in Melbourne with George Russell winning from Pole.
With so many changes in play this year following regulation changes, it was always expected to be a chaotic opener, and there were 6 DNFs including both Aston Martin drivers.
For Superbru players, it's perhaps tricky to have too many takeaways from just a single race besides Mercedes being very fast, but there's also a fresh factor to consider this weekend in Shanghai as the first Sprint of the season takes place.
The Sprint prediction adds a fresh constructor element to our F1 Predictor. For each Sprint race, you must predict the team you believe will pick up the most points in the Sprint race, rather than a specific driver.
Correctly predicting the team that obtains the most points from a Sprint race will be worth 3 points on Superbru.

This means there's a new tactical element to consider when making your predictions for the relevant Grand Prix weekends.
As an example, you may feel Max Verstappen will win the Sprint in China, but unless his Red Bull teammate Isack Hadjar also finishes in the top 8, it is possible for other constructors to out-score Red Bull if their drivers finish 4th and 5th, for instance.
The number of points each place receives in an F1 Sprint race is shown below:

Note: Your Sprint pick automatically saves once you've clicked on one of the teams. You don't need to make all of your other race predictions at the same time if you don't want to.
For the majority of Superbru players who are based across Europe and South Africa, the Chinese Grand Prix makes for an early start, so it's certainly advisable to make at least your Sprint prediction on Friday. You can always edit your pick at any time before the deadline.

That 11am local time Sprint start is 3am UK time/5am SA time so big respect to those of you that will be up to cheer on the team you have selected to score you some points!
After the Sprint, you are free to make/edit your race predictions as normal and you will still earn the Early Bru Point (EBP) if you make (and don't change) your race predictions before Qualifying starts.
Good luck with your Round 2 predictions.

Translation for us Superbru predictors: it’s not just about picking the fastest driver anymore; it’s about betting on which team has the least Saterday-morning hangover. Red Bull, Mercedes, Ferrari… or maybe Aston Martin, if they can actually finish a race this time.
So sharpen your pencils, folks: Sprint picks are worth 3 points, which is basically the difference between bragging rights and explaining to your mates why you thought Haas was a good idea. Good luck, and may your alarms be louder than your regrets!
