Final World Cup qualifiers take place this week

We already know 42 of the 48 nations that will be competing at this summer's FIFA World Cup, but the final 6 qualifiers will be determined over the next week as the play-offs take place.

4 of the spots will be taken by European nations via the UEFA qualification play-offs, while the other 2 are set to be decided by FIFA's Inter-confederation tournament.

Though you can't make predictions for these games on Superbru, they will be very interesting to follow and it will be fascinating to see who reaches the World Cup.

The winning nations will of course also be assigned keys in our ongoing Road to the World Cup campaign!

Our World Cup Predictor game for 2026 will be live not long after these final play-offs have taken place. To pre-register, head to the World Cup tab on the Superbru Football app.

European play-offs

We've outlined the bracket for the European qualifiers on the graphic below. The semi-finals take place tomorrow (Thursday) with the finals next Tuesday, 31st March.

Note that the order in which each fixture is presented reflects home advantage. Ukraine are an exception to that due to the ongoing conflict; their game against Sweden is taking place at Levante's stadium in Valencia, Spain.

Inter-confederation play-offs

Qualification for the final two spots is divided into two separate paths, with DR Congo and Iraq already through to the play-off finals.

Path 1: DR Congo vs. New Caledonia OR Jamaica

Path 2: Iraq vs. Bolivia OR Suriname

Unlike the UEFA matches, there is no home advantage here, with FIFA's play-off tournament taking place in Mexico.

Path 1 is happening in Guadalajara, with New Caledonia vs. Jamaica kicking-off tomorrow (Thursday) and the winner of that match then playing DR Congo next Tuesday.

Path 2 has the same kick-off schedule but with matches taking place in Monterrey. Bolivia play Suriname tomorrow with the winner facing Iraq next Tuesday.

New Caledonia and Suriname are each targeting a maiden World Cup appearance.

I am sure they will all get here to North America. But who will have enough fuel in their bellies to win the World Cup? Ok everyone tell me who will win the World Cup this year? Personally I have no idea because I am terrible at predicting football scores. Example this Sunday there were 14 football matches over the different leagues. 8 of those 14 matches ended in a tie. How do you predict those results? There is no way in hell anyone got all 8 of those match predictions. 5 Apr 18:56
