Fantasy Rugby: Expected team announcement schedule over festive period
Merry Christmas, rugby fans!
As you all know, one of the best things about the festive period is the amount of sport there is to enjoy, and when there's rugby to watch, it's important to have your fantasy team all set to go as well.
The Boxing Day rounds are a bit different to the usual schedule though, so since a few of you have already been in touch to ask about when team lineups might be announced, here's what we've been told.
Sale and Quins will be announcing their lineups on Christmas Eve, but the rest of the clubs will go with the usual Friday announcement meaning we can expect those to drop at midday on Boxing Day.
As a result, there's a slightly smaller window than usual on Boxing Day afternoon to get your squad managed in time for that 17:30 kick-off in Salford.
That leaves us with 6 fixtures across the 26th and 27th of December. The opener is Cardiff Rugby vs. Dragons RFC at 15:00 UK on Boxing Day.
Considering transfers will be precious with the SA clubs out of action, the good news is that we're expecting team announcements early. We've been advised that lineups for all teams are set to be announced on Christmas Eve so you should have more than 48 hours between those announcements and the round deadline.

The fixtures originally planned for Round 8 - Lions vs. Sharks and Bulls vs. Stormers - are instead being played during the Six Nations.That leaves us with 6 fixtures across the 26th and 27th of December. The challange here is that there are only 6 free transfers in the URC each round, now without the south african teams playing, we may have more changes to make than normal if we have a higher contingent of SA players in your fantasy team.

Spot on about the transfer squeeze! 🎯 With the SA sides on a bye, it feels like we’re playing musical chairs with only six seats available. Those of us stacked with Sharks and Stormers players will need to be extra crafty. Boxing Day could turn into a tactical sprint—lineups dropping midday and the first whistle at 17:30 means no time for mince pies before the squad shuffle. 🍗🏉 Strategy over stuffing this round!

Latest round was more than a challenge, with only 7 teams from 16 announced by the deadline. But hey, same for all of us and no fault of Superbru imho.
