Fantasy Premiership Rugby returns for 2024-25

The 2024-25 Premiership Rugby season begins this week and we're set for quite a double header on Friday night to kick things off as Newcastle take on Bristol and Bath host Northampton Saints in a repeat of last season's final.

Of course, Northampton Saints were victorious at Twickenham back in June with a 25-21 win. That game capped off a season that saw us introduce a Fantasy Premiership Rugby game for the first time here on Superbru Rugby, and we're excited for the return of the fantasy game for this fresh campaign.

First of all, if you're new to Superbru for this 2024-25 season and would like to know more about how to play our fantasy rugby game, click here to view the information pages if you're on web or, if you're on the Superbru Rugby app, simply head to the fantasy tab and you'll see a 'How to play' button in the top right corner of the screen when selecting your squad. That section has all you need to know.

Those of you that played last year may have already noticed that there's been a number of player price changes this year, reflecting their performances in the debut season of our game.

To help you out with your initial squad for this season, here's a reminder of how each team did in 2023-24 along with their top fantasy performers.

Remember, this is a fresh campaign so it's quite possible that new names emerge and there's bound to be some bargain buys that prove to be the difference between winning and losing your private league, but there's also no doubt that some of these tried and tested names will be racking up some big scores in Fantasy Premiership Rugby again this year.

I got through last season having a handful of players having great performances and a low salary cap number. Those players have now got a "raise", shouldn't the salary cap be increased to cover this. In the NFL the salary cap increases every year to cover the situation when the superstars need to get paid their big contracts. Where we are heading with this is "parity" or mediocrity with our selections based on an artificial self induced salary cap. Has anybody done their homework and figured out what the real salary cap is in the Premiership and how it compares to what number you have set. I thought the whole point of fantasy is to have a team of who you think are the superstars, without the encumbrance of a salary cap.

I agree
Very restrictive at 100k
Any thoughts to increasing it.
Or like the transfers if you exceed it points are taken off.

100K is a small budget to work with, but I will give it a go.😁

It's an easy task. The bench basically does nothing because unlike in the real world where rugby today is a squad of 23 players but in Superbru fantasy players on the bench just sit there and do basically nothing. I have managed to create of bench of 8 players using only £17 Mil and £83 Mil is spent on the 15 players who actually score points. And happy to switch them out using the transfers system for players who will actually start in the next round if changes are needed- the bench is basically redundant in this game. We have a budget of circa £80-£82 mil for the starting 15. The people on the bench are basically enablers to get a good 15 out there and the 4 transfers a week ? allows us to toggle our starting 15 depending on fixtures.

They must really change 2 or 3 things here.
100K budget they going to lose brus.
Either let the bench also score half points at least or only pay half the amount for them.
with a 100k make the transfers 6 then, don't know why only 4, because rugby Championship only have 4 teams with 6 transfers. the URC and Premier league they changing allot more player also, with other competition and six nation during the season.

Brus - We can learn something here - to work within the framework we have and not the one we don't have!

The 100 million cap is fixed. If we inflate it we get the 'Rising tide lifts all boats' phenomenon, it changes nothing in 'relative' terms. We must cut our cloth accordingly. The reason we only have 10 Eng Prem teams instead of 13 was due to this 'Real World' inflation. Yes there is a risk we also lose 3/13ths of Brus here too but it forces us to 'look for value' in terms of player choices.

Who is relatively under-priced? Who only gets 'alright' points but is at least a regular starter and not prone to 'injured in warm-up-ness'? Adding more transfers would also be 'dumbing it down'. Bench budgets are crucial as is planning say 3 rounds ahead. Just give yourselves an extra 15-30 mins to pick compared to everyone just picking the same 'household names' as in the past.

I now set TWO alarms on my phone Mark. A 15 mins to go & an 'Oh SHYTE is that the time?!' 5 mins to go one. What would happen was I would pause to take 2 iPhone photos (a square of just my XV, & a wider one to include the bench & fixtures info) for easy reference & to avoid finding out results by logging in, before watching highlights. The MAJOR flaw was then FORGETTING to hit SUBMIT! But sometimes rollovers did better than my 'improved' squad! 20 Sep 13:30
