Currie Cup Semi-Final Predictions!

Things finally get serious in the Currie Cup over the next fortnight, starting with two tantalising fixtures this weekend.

Time is running out to climb those pool leaderboards, but don’t forget that there are extra points on offer for the semi-finals and final.

Here are my Currie Cup semi-final predictions.

Bulls v Lions

This great Gauteng rivalry looks forward to its latest instalment at Loftus this weekend. The Bulls have consistently been the best team in the tournament, they should be fresh after a couple of weeks’ rest, and full of confidence having enjoyed the upper hand in recent meetings between the teams. I can’t really see an upset here, and I’m sticking with a home win. Bulls by 5

Western Province vs. Sharks

If you’re looking for an upset, this is the one to focus on. Province are without the hard-scrummaging Steven Kitshoff, whilst the Sharks welcome back Thomas du Toit from injury, might just fancy their chances in the tight. The Sharks have won their last two fixtures against the Stormers, including a win at Newlands back in June. Home advantage will sway many tippers towards Province, but I’m going for the upset. Sharks by 2

It will be a Bulls vs WP final at Loftus. With the Bulls proceeding to win the Currie Cup.

Brus have really got to ask themselves if their only chance of capturing Pool Medal Points or a Global Top 10% is to make 1 or even 2 upset picks? All it might take is a disallowed try or a 55m goal kick here and there.

As WP fan, Kitsoff not available (with not fancied front rows on bench) I'm going with Sharks to win. ??. They got a really good backline as well. Sorry WP.
Home advantage of Bulls, make them the favoured for the Northens clash.

Keep an eye on Stravino Jacobs. With a Kiwi on the wing for Bulls, there is no stopping them tomorrow.

His teammates refer to him as Kiwi (nickname). Thought I would not have been only one that picked up on that, but clearly, I was mistaken. 23 Jan 05:35
