Brazil squad named for 2026 World Cup
Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad has been confirmed today with Carlo Ancelotti finalising his 26-player list for the tournament.
Here's the 26-man list in full:

Arsenal's Gabriel and Manchester United's Casemiro have each proved a real handful when attacking set-pieces in the Premier League this season so that's something to watch out for, but it is of course the attacking threat carried by the likes of Vinicius Jr and Raphinha that stands out.
Perhaps most notably, Neymar Jr has made the list. Brazil's leading goalscorer of all time has had a number of injury issues since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, meaning many doubted we'd see him at a World Cup again, but after putting some appearances together at Santos in the last couple of seasons, Ancelotti has made the extremely popular move of including Neymar in his squad.
Chelsea's Joao Pedro is a notable absentee, with Igor Thiago of Brentford and Bournemouth's Rayan among the forwards preferred.
On paper, this isn't a Brazil squad that's as strong as those of previous years, but their World Cup pedigree means they are feared by most and with a world class manager leading them in front of what will be considerable support at this year's finals... they're still going to take some beating.

Brazil, who are of course the most successful nation in World Cup history with 5 triumphs, have named a squad that's typically full of attacking quality and flair, though they notably also carry significant set piece threat through a couple of Premier League powerhouses. Here's the 26-man list in full:

How will they get on?
Brazil will face Haiti, Morocco and Scotland in the group stage of this World Cup, with their opening fixture against Morocco in New Jersey set to be a real test of how strong Carlo Ancelotti's side are.On paper, this isn't a Brazil squad that's as strong as those of previous years, but their World Cup pedigree means they are feared by most and with a world class manager leading them in front of what will be considerable support at this year's finals... they're still going to take some beating.

Being more diplomatic and calm, I would say they're good PL players, but far from the quality of those legends of the past. But you can say that about other squads in the tournament.
They have quality in other positions. Alisson, Ederson and Casemiro are all well in decline but do offer good quality if they can play at their best level for a month or so. Marquinhos is one of the best centre-halfs in the world.
I just feel the squad is underwhelming compared to names of the past. I don't think that's nostaglia talking, either. 19 May 13:41
