2026 World Cup Predictor: Day 2
We're officially underway with the 2026 World Cup and what better way to start than another Shakira opening ceremony, a packed out Azteca and more red cards than goals in a 2-0 game.
Things played out reasonably predictably which means lots of you have made a strong start to our Predictor! Will that continue this evening? Here's your Day 2 round-up, starting with a quick overview of yesterday's action.
A lot of people started the World Cup with an Exact pick last night as Mexico comfortably defeated a Bafana side that will be very disappointed with their display. Hugo Broos' team selection was even more defensive than expected, but South Africa also then seemed to have a muddled gameplan and got caught early on attempting to play out.
It proved to be a very comfortable night for the Mexicans in front of a packed out Azteca. There were also three red cards, the last two of which seemed fairly unnecessary. That 'unnecessary' tag can be applied to both the referee decisions but also the incidents themselves, in fairness, and the card given to Mexico captain Cesar Montes could be particularly significant as he'll now miss the Round 2 clash with Korea.
This one proved to be more entertaining than many expected, but with the clash of styles that was very much forecast. Czechia are excellent from set-pieces and they were very deliberate in looking to show everyone that, going ahead through captain Ladislav Krejci who headed in Vladimir Coufal's long throw.
Korea were fully deserved winners, though, and they showed great strength and commitment to their own gameplan in coming from behind to win. In-Beom Hwang's goal was lovely so give that a watch if you haven't already, and Hyun-Gyu Oh then found a winner just minutes after Czechia had a goal ruled out at the other end (from another set-piece) for offside.
Here's how Group A now looks.

Good luck to you all with your predictions today and well done to those who mentioned in the comments of yesterday's piece that they've managed 2/2 Exacts! I myself had 2-0 for the opener but 1-1 for Korea vs. Czechia.
Feel free to let people know in the comments what you're predicting for this evening's games.

I am gonna go Canada 1-1 Bosnia and USA 2-1 Paraguay.
My thinking is Canada don't lose many games and have home advantage. I also heard out of their last 10 games most of them have had under 2.5 goals. Davies is injured too which is a blow. Bosnia are a dogged team who likely won't concede many goals, and I think they can grab a point.
In the other game, I actually think Paraguay are a not bad side, but just with USA having home advantage and the power of the crowd behind them I am gonna go 2-1. It won't surprise me if Paraguay get something, but we have to make a choice so I am gonna go with USA.
But I will mull it over before kick off. 12 Jun 15:13
I am still not sure. I am gonna stick with USA (even though as I say I wouldn't be surprised if Paraguay get something). I am currently sitting at 1-0 but not sure if I will change to 2-1 before the game. I am gonna go for one of those for sure.
My worry is going for low scores like one goal games are a risk, because so much can happen across 90 minutes. To answer your question, though, I am leaning towards 1-0. 12 Jun 21:26
I am not as sure on the superbru football app (even though I do use it). I think there's a world cup tab at the bottom that you use from there to sign up. 12 Jun 14:48
