2026 World Cup Predictor: Day 15
Day 14 of the World Cup was a fairly predictable one, at least until the final match of the day which saw an historic win for South Africa.
That means the opening Round of 32 fixture is now confirmed - South Africa vs. Canada in Los Angeles - but lots more will be revealed this evening once three more groups have been brought to a close.
Here's your daily World Cup Predictor round-up.
Qatar managed a much more resepctable showing in their final appearance at this World Cup, but this match ended with the 2-goal victory for Bosnia that many were expecting. We'd been waiting for Bosnia's young wingers to be given a bit of freedom in this tournament and 18-year old Kerim Alajbegovic scored a fantastic opener, while Ermin Mahmic's late third from the bench confirmed the victory that will see Bosnia progress as a 3rd-placed team.
A great win for Switzerland which secured top spot in Group B. This was a strange performance from Canada - by the end, they played exactly as I thought they would with some excellent attacking play. Their goal was absolutely superb so make sure you watch that if you haven't already. However, it was such a slow start which is unusual under Jesse Marsch and that's what ultimately gave Switzerland the win.
Though Canada will still fancy their chances against South Africa this weekend, it's a costly defeat as they'd have loved to stay in Canada for the first couple of knockout rounds. If there's any silver lining, they probably will be back to having the majority of the crowd this Sunday now, which likely wouldn't have been the case had they been playing South Korea in LA as initially expected.

Morocco made much harder work of this than most of us expected, but shoutout to the 278 users who predicted 4-2 Exact! I was quite pleased for Haiti that they made such a game of it in the first half, and Wilson Isidor's goal was an unbelievable strike, but Morocco's quality and persistence proved too much in the second half.
You can't really sugarcoat it, this was shocking from Scotland. There was so much hype before this match because playing Brazil at a World Cup is the absolute pinnacle for most players, but to then just gift Brazil goals is so disappointing.
The 3-goal defeat means Scotland are almost certainly going out, as South Africa's surprise win later in the day worsened their position considerably. For Brazil, there are of course far tougher tests to come but they've done well to win this group and if Vinicius Jr remains in this kind of form, they'll continue to score a lot of goals.

A routine night for Mexico even though they were already group winners before a ball was kicked. I was watching the South Africa v South Korea game rather than this one, but received regular goal updates regardless from the crowd in that other match which was largely Mexican and went wild every time Mexico scored another against the Czechs.
A bit of a disappointing campaign for Czechia having done so well to qualify via the play-offs. Ultimately, they just lacked any kind of attacking threat outside of set-pieces, but I think South Africa have shown that they've missed an opportunity in this group.
The big result of the day. I didn't predict it myself, but did mention yesterday that Group A was the one that could well have jeopardy, so I was still quite pleased when Bafana scored to give us a bit of drama.
South Korea were so disappointing. Having been so impressed with them in Round 1, that's now two consecutive performances where they've done so little with the ball. Benching Heung-min Son was a huge call from Myung-Bo Hong but it didn't really seem to change much, nor did Son's arrival when he was brought on at half time.
South Africa deserve huge credit though, they were brilliant even without one of their best players. They showed more intent than Korea and really should have scored when Evidence Makgopa had a huge opportunity even before Thapelo Maseko scored his goal.
The defence was solid, I really like Mbekezeli Mbokazi, and while they'll just be delighted to have made the knockout stage for the first time in their history, a clash with Canada isn't as scary a fixture as many knockout matches are so who knows?

Today's schedule:
Paraguay vs. Australia is really tough. The Socceroos would be the side to take the runners-up spot if it's a draw, so their playing style might reflect that late on, but with both sides usually so defensive it's tough to have a convincing argument for either side to win the match.

Ecuador 1-2 Germany
Japan 2-1 Sweden
Tunisia 0-4 Netherlands
Paraguay 1-1 Australia
Turkey 0-2 USA
Fairly happy with that. Of course the likes of Germany and USA could take it easy, but as we seen with Mexico, momentum matters going into the round of 32.
Even if Tunisia lose 3-0 it gives me a close, so worth giving it a go. 25 Jun 16:18
Turkey to get a goal against USA is a good bet, but I am loathe to change now in case my original pick ends up being correct. I changed to give Ecuador a goal but don't wanna do it more than once. 25 Jun 19:04
I also love the Olympics. I am a big fan of athletics, swimming and pool (billiards) myself too. 25 Jun 19:39
