2026-27 Scottish Premiership Predictor begins this week

It's been just over a week since Spain won the World Cup, with a rare little period of rest time for us all ever since, but we all know that football never stops and the 2026-27 club season begins this week on Superbru Football!

Though many other leagues are still a few weeks away with pre-season tours only just beginning, the Scottish Premiership is an early starter and kick-off is this Friday.

2026-27 Scottish Premiership

After a memorable 2025-26 campaign in which the title race between Celtic and Hearts went right down to the final day, it will be fascinating to see how things shape up this year.

In their first season following investment from Brighton owner Tony Bloom, Hearts came so close to a first title since 1960 which would have ended Celtic's recent dominance. Instead, it's now 5 league titles in a row for Celtic who have been victorious in 14 of the last 15 campaigns.

Was that Hearts' big chance? Or will they go again as the Bloom era develops? Manager Derek McInnes has left for Rangers, as has striker Lawrence Shankland, with Belgian coach Wouter Vrancken the new man in charge.

Rangers will of course be hoping that the experience that both McInnes and Shankland have in Scotland will lead them to a far less turbulent and more successful season, but the 10-point gap between themselves and Celtic last season will be tough to bridge considering Celtic will hope to be far stronger themselves now that Martin O'Neill has agreed to stay on a more permanent basis.

Play Scottish Premiership Predictor on Superbru

The new season begins with Dundee United vs. Rangers this Friday night.

You can click here to play our Scottish Premiership Predictor

To create a league and predict against friends throughout the new season, simply download the Superbru Football app and head to the Leagues tab.

If you were new for the World Cup, note that Slam Points are in play for our club football Predictor tournaments.

In the Scottish Premiership, you'll receive 1 Slam Point for every round where you manage 5/6 correct predictions, or 2 Slam Points if you manage a perfect 6/6 round. Slam points are awarded as a round-based bonus on top of our usual match-by-match scoring.

Best of luck!

I'm looking forward to this one. I've never done too great in this one and most of my football competitions. Bring it on! My best result was winning the Olympics soccer.

Do you have your own predictions, Jack? I think your sagacious thoughts for these matches would be insightful and useful. I think it would be useful to have reviews for all of tthe main leagues. However, I understand that would be time consuming for you. 30 Jul 01:14

I think the Superbru guys should hire Dave C. to write some of the articles for football. He is way more knowledgeable then the average person on Superbru.
Maybe Dave could give us his thoughts on the Scottish Premier league. 31 Jul 16:04

Thanks Marko lol. I really just go with my gut instinct though and my experience of knowing the better teams and weaker teams through several decades of either following or knowing about domestic leagues. 31 Jul 16:20

Thanks Gunslinger, appreciate it. Looking forward to competing against you, too. I had to give the world cup final article a break as all the corruption talk was annoying me (though Argentina did disappointment me in the final with both their playstyle and behaviour).

I hope you are ok, Andy 30 Jul 07:34

Doing great, Dave. Yeah, there is a lot of negavtive enrgy surrounding the WC. There were many controversial decisions during the tournament. Now, the president of FIFA wants to treat this tournament like an auction, with DT potentially benefiting greatly from his proposal. I can't see his crazy plan coming though. 31 Jul 04:15

Hi mate

Yeah this idea of selling shares in the World Cup is football dystopia. UEFA have apparently already said they will boycott the World Cup if it happen (all 55 members). Infantino is out of control. Cannot imagine it will happen as there will be too much blowback.

Pleased you are well. 31 Jul 04:20

It is quite difficult to predict, but let's see how it goes. I am playing 10 tournaments this season lol (England. Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Scotland, EFL Championship, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup). I normally play 9 but adding in the Championship. 31 Jul 05:54

I'll play any tournament.😁Top 1% in Wimbledon last time. Managed to get number 7 out of around 5,600. Where did you finish in the WC, Dave? 31 Jul 06:09

That's exceptional man, really well done.

I finished 117th in the world out of about 391,000 and 24th in the UK out of about 63.000, for the World Cup. 31 Jul 06:17

I watched the first half then was very tired about 9pm so fell asleep. It looked like Dundee United had most of the game, first half. Not sure if Rangers played better second half, though they did equalise so maybe.

I was a bit wary of backing Rangers (even though I did). They haven't won an opening game for the last three seasons (four now) and Tannadice is a tricky place to go. Let's see how today's games go. I won't be watching I don't think but I will keep an eye on scoreline

Unrelated to Scottish football but just found out that Franco Baresi died. He was one of the greatest defenders of all time and is a legend for AC Milan. Remember watching him on Channel 4 Serie A in the 90s and he was a colossus in the 1994 World Cup Final (before missing in the shootout). RIP.

It's been a volatile, unpredictable start on the predictor for the first two weeks and 12 games, but hopefully it will settle down.

For my personal performance, I am still encouraged. I feel I have underperformed, yet I am still top 20 percent in the world, 8.5 points where the global leader has about 17.5, and I have a 50 percent success rate and only two fewer correct outcomes than him (he has way more exacts, just using him as the benchmark). I also noticed that even where I backed a favourite, such as Rangers the first two weeks, I was far from entirely convinced and them dropping points (that happened) was something I knew was a risk. It's not like I thought they were guaranteed practically to win.

I still have faith in my reading of the games and hope the variance will settle down as the sample size increases and the weeks go on.
