2025-26 Premier League: Round 1 Match Previews

A new Premier League season is upon us!

Round 1 begins this evening (Friday) with Liverpool vs. Bournemouth and runs until Monday night when newly promoted Leeds will host Everton.

Liverpool vs. Bournemouth

Defending champions Liverpool are red hot favourites in this season opener as they look set to field a lineup that has been strengthened by huge investment in fresh attackers, against a Bournemouth side that has had almost their entire defence stripped away in this summer's transfer window. Three of Liverpool's new recruits - Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong - had direct goal involvements in last weekend's Community Shield against Crystal Palace which the Reds ultimately lost on penalties after a 2-2 draw. That game showed Arne Slot's side can be got at defensively, particularly with such attacking full-backs, but Liverpool will back themselves to outscore teams this season with Wirtz and Ekitike joining an already frightening attack…
