2024 Rugby Championship: Round 1 Lineups

The 2024 Rugby Championship begins this Saturday when Australia take on South Africa at a sold out Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

That match will be followed by New Zealand vs. Argentina in Wellington to complete Round 1.

Australia team to host South Africa

Carlo Tizzano is in line for a first Test start against the Springboks as he's been named in the back row alongside Harry Wilson and Rob Valetini. Allan Alaalatoa captains Joe Schmidt's team.

South Africa team to face Australia

Rassie Erasmus has handed both Elrigh Louw and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu their first Test starts for this Rugby Championship opener. Siya Kolisi, who is widely reported to be returning to South Africa for his club rugby after just a year with Racing 92, captains the side as expected.

New Zealand team to host Argentina

Ardie Savea captains the All Blacks for their opening game against Argentina. Sam Darry starts at Lock alongside Tupou Vaa'i while Beauden Barrett is at full-back with Damian McKenzie the starting 10.

Argentina team to face New Zealand

Pablo Matera leads Argentina for their opening game in New Zealand, and coach Felipe Contepomi has opted for a 6-2 split on the bench.
