2024 Rugby Championship Predictions: Round 3

International rugby returns this weekend, and it’s the fixture that the whole Rugby world always looks forward to.

Here are my Rugby Championship predictions for Round 3:

South Africa v New Zealand

The All Blacks bounced back emphatically from their opening round defeat to Argentina, and they’ll have been targeting this game since the Rugby World Cup final defeat. The Springboks are struggling with injury at lock, but whether that’s enough to end their recent dominance over New Zealand, I am not convinced.

Home advantage will also help, and I have a feeling it’s more likely to be comfortable than close. Prediction: South Africa by 8

Argentina v Australia

This one looks a straightforward pick too, with the Wallabies struggling and the Pumas reverting to the same lineup that defeated the All Blacks in the opening round. The last meeting in Argentina was a 31-point victory for the Pumas, and whilst I think it will be closer, I’m fully expecting a home win. Prediction: Argentina by 9
