A month of exhilarating football ended last night at Wembley in elation for Italian fans and despair for the English. Initially shocked by England's perfect start which saw Luke Shaw hammer home a perfect cross from Kieran Trippier in the second minute, Italy worked their way back into the game and gradually came to dominate, particularly in the second half when their pressure eventually yielded a goal to Leonardo Bonucci. 1-1 after extra time led to the nailbiting ritual of penalties, won 3-2 by Italy after three misses from England.
