Super Rugby Predictions: 23-25 April

Last weekend’s results were slightly frustrating after I bottled picking an upset in either of the New Zealand matches, but not many people did and I haven’t lost any significant ground in the standings.

This weekend is the final regular round in Australia, and the penultimate round in New Zealand. Following these tournaments we have Super Rugby Trans-Tasman which should be very interesting and we now have both a predictor game and a full fantasy game live for you for that tournament.

You can click here to join the predictor game and click here to join the fantasy.

Here are my Super Rugby predictions for this weekend.

Super Rugby Aotearoa

Chiefs v Hurricanes: This one looks obvious, given the Chiefs’ return to form and the Hurricanes’ struggles so far this season. Damian McKenzie can play anywhere - he has returned to full-back again this week - and is well worth watching. Chiefs by 9

Crusaders v Blues: This is a really important fixture in terms of the knockout stages. The Crusaders are probably safe, although it’s not often you spot 2 defeats in their last 3 matches on the Superbru streak. I think the Crusaders will win this one, and then the Blues will have a crucial showdown with the Chiefs next week. Crusaders by 6

Super Rugby AU

Force v Reds: You can’t look past the unbeaten Reds for this one, although I wouldn’t expect a huge win. It was only a 7-point margin when the teams met in Brisbane, and that’s probably about right here too. Reds by 7

Waratahs v Rebels: The Rebels have won just two matches all season, but remarkably, can still make the playoffs by winning this match - and assuming the Reds beat the Force. However, the Waratahs are getting closer to a win and will be desperate to avoid a winless season, so I think they might take it. Waratahs by 4
