Gallagher Premiership Round 5 Predictions!
I had a pretty good round last weekend, with 5 out 6, beating the average of 4 correct picks. It was Worcester beating Leicester at Welford Road that I didn't see coming, and actually I predicted a big Tigers victory.
Realistically, I am going to be glued to the Ryder Cup all weekend and won't be watching any of these games, but here are my predictions for Round 5 of the Gallagher Premiership.
Newcastle v Wasps Newcastle's record against Wasps is abysmal, with a draw in 2015 the best result before they lost the next 6 by an average of 15 points. The Falcons have also had a poor start to the season, with only a win over Worcester to their name so far, and I think Wasps will win this. Wasps by 7
Bristol v Northampton It's two home wins from two for the Bears, and I fancy them to take this one too. Saints have been fairly average and don't usually travel too well. Bristol by 6
Exeter v Worcester Instinct says to go for a big home win, but I thought that last week and Worcester won away! I'm going for it again though, and if it's closer than I think, I'll start showing the Warriors more respect in my picks. Exeter by 23
Gloucester v Harlequins After a great start to the season, Quins have suffered 3 disappointing defeats, but everyone else in the bottom half has been poor too and they remain in 6th just one place behind Gloucester. The home side should win this comfortably and get back on track after losing to Sarries last week. Gloucester by 13
Saracens v Bath Bath are in fourth, but it seems there's a gulf in quality between the top two teams and everyone else this season. I suspect this will be another 5-pointer for the home team. Saracens by 16
Leicester v Sale These teams have only 1 win each so far, but bonus points have taken the Tigers to 7th, whilst the Sharks are at the bottom of the table. I would expect the home team to win this one, having beaten Sale in their last three matches. Leicester by 13
Let me know how your own picks compare in the comments!
