All hail Brookers!

Sandton-based Bafana fan Brookers is our World Cup champion, topping the global leaderboard ahead of runner-up Z Spain and third-placed King Cheetah. Well done, gentlemen, and thanks to everyone for taking part.

Brookers is a ten tournament SuperBru veteran also known as Andy Brookstein. In a World Cup of numerous upsets, he delivered a hugely impressive 71.88% accuracy in picking winners for a remarkable 52 Win Points, which combined with his 21.75 Margin Points bagged him a global total of 73.75 points (remember that Bonus Points don't play a part in global rankings).

"Hats off to Brookers for a cracking performance," said Chief Bru the General. "To win a big tournament like this is no small achievement."

Brookers wins a PlayStation 3 package from SuperBru HQ for his efforts. Well done sir!

Second place was taken by Z Spain, a US-based fan of Spain living in Virginia. He bags an XBox 360 package.

And in third was King Cheetah, who wins R2,000 in cash.


Winner of the General's Clubhouse

The top player in the elite General's Clubhouse pool was Mieliebier. The General's Clubhouse is an invitation-only pool for the top 1,000 most-capped players in SuperBru. Major long-time heavyweights of the SuperBru world are to be found lounging in the Clubhouse, swapping war stories and sipping single malt whiskey. "It's all very self-congratulatory. Controlling the egos is most of the work," says the General of the Clubhouse.

It's been a joy for us to deliver this tournament. Some numbers for the nerds: over 65,000 players in 8,176 pools took part. We recorded 1.5 million visits to SuperBru and served just shy of 10 million web pages. 3.3 million picks were made.


What's next

Soccer fans can look forward to our annual Champions League and English Premier League games when the new season starts in a few weeks. Like the infrastructure of South African cities, both games will benefit from improvements made for the World Cup.
