Can anyone stop Brookers?

By the time Paraguay had defeated Slovakia Brookers, the Bru in possession of the hallowed top spot, had capitulated from an excellent early start and probably didn't think that he would be in the position he now finds himself. Well...how things have changed.

The Bru from Sandton has come back from the dead and looks set to take the crown (and the Playstation 3) unless his closest challengers Marius and Ryno can usurp him in the final trio of matches.

Spot-on predictions for the Netherlands-Brazil quarter-final and the Spain-Portugal tie have been the icing on a cake that has seen him collect win points for every game bar three - the France-SA, Portugal-Brazil and USA-Ghana games - since that dark Sunday when Paraguay defeated Slovakia. Not only that, but in the same period, he has bagged margin points for all but three of his win point-bagging games, a phenomenal run of form that sees the South Africa fan deservedly at the top of the pile.

Behind him lie two challengers hoping his excellent run of form comes to an end. Pretoria resident Marius has been in fine fettle himself since the Denmark-Japan match, with win and margin points notched from every single game while Ryno will be glad Uruguay bagged a late goal in their semi-final - that outcome earned him valuable margin points.

As for the top three's predictions for tonight, Brookers has gone for a 2-1 Germany win, Marius a Germany win by one goal to nil and Ryno a 1-1 draw. The trio's lack of faith in Spain is backed by Brus in general with more than 75% of you gunning for a Germany win.

Will Brookers hold out for the top spot? Or can another Bru stage a last-gasp charge and deny him the Playstation 3?
