Scoring system

SuperBru NRL is all about scoring points, and it's critical to understand how they are won. We suggest you take a look at the how to play guide for a general explanation, and then to confirm check the scoring rules in formal style below.

Prediction model

You must predict:
  • The game outcome (team 1 win, draw or team 2 win)
  • The margin of victory (i.e. score difference)
Points are awarded as follows:

Group stages

Point Value Description
Win Point (WP) 1.0
Scored by all players correctly predicting the game outcome (home team win, draw or away team win)
Margin Point (MP) 0.5 A Margin Point will be awarded to every player whose margin prediction is within 5 points of the real margin, taking into account winning team.

In the case of close games where the real margin is less than 5 points, players will qualify for a Margin Point if their prediction was for the incorrect team but within 5 points of the real margin. E.g. Player predicts Team A by 2 and Team B wins by 1 - player's prediction is within the 5 point range and a Margin Point is awarded. A Margin Point will not be awarded outside of this range. E.g. Player predicts Team A by 90, Team B wins by 84, no Margin Point is awarded.

Bonus Point (BP) 1.0 Scored by player(s) whose margin prediction(s) is/are the closest to the actual marign. Point is split in case of ties (e.g. if two players qualify, they get 0.5 BP each). Must get the game outcome right (i.e. earn a WP) in order to qualify. Is not added to global total for global leaderboard, is purely a pool point only.
Grand Slam Point (GSP) 1 Scored by all players correctly predicting every winner in a round in regular season (see rules below about finals rounds).

Finals rounds

As above, but with the Win Point increasing to value to 2pts for the first three weeks of finals, and 3pts for the Grand Final. The Grand Slam Point will be awarded in finals weeks featuring four games, but once it drops to two or fewer games there will be no Grand Slam Point.

Default pick rule

If you fail to make a pick for a game you will be given a default pick, up to a limit of 10 default picks. A default pick is a pick for the home team to win by an unspecified margin. You will qualify for Win Points, but not Margin, Bonus or Grand Slam points.
Players who join the game late will be allocated default picks for the games they have missed (this enables them still to take part). They will be eligible for up to 10 late joiner default picks in this manner.
