Try our new Fantasy F1 game
We are trialling a new game format for the 2017 F1 season, and would be interested to hear your feedback.
It's a fantasy-style game, whereby each week you will pick a team of 4 drivers, and you'll win points relating to their performance in qualifying and in the race.
The drivers are banded with other drivers of similar ability, and you can choose one driver from each band for each Grand Prix.
Each driver will earn points according to where they qualify, where they finish the race, as well as things like laps completed, positions gained in the race and for recording the fastest lap.
Full details of the scoring system can be found here.
Lewis Hamilton, as the clear favourite for this year's title, posed a slight problem, because he'll attract most of the picks in whichever band we place him. The two Mercedes drivers are grouped together in Band 1, with the Red Bulls and Ferraris in Band 2, Force India, Williams, Mclaren and Toro Rosso in Band 3 and Haas, Renault and Sauber in Band 4. This is designed to encourage as much pick differentiation as possible, since it would be boring if we all picked the same drivers, but we will review things as the season unfolds.

I have a points suggestion on penalties:
-1 for drive through penalty
-1 for 5sec penalty
-2 for 10sec penalty
-10 for black flag
May I make a scoring suggestion? Since each player only picks 4 drivers, there is a likelihood that many players will pick the same 4 drivers. To create some separation between players, I want to suggest the following to spice things up:
Allow each player to select five (5) Bonus Circuits from the 20 venues this season. Any points you score during the weekend at the Grand Prix venue of your Bonus Circuits will be DOUBLED.
This will add another dimension: know your driver, know his favorite circuit, since you only have 5 circuits as Bonus Circuits!
Just an idea!
How about also adding a score bonus for fastest pit stop and avg pit stop time. This way you have to take the team crew into consideration as well?
